Why can't Democrats say this when every Republican has the same talking point:

"Bush's nominees deserve an up or down vote in the Senate." Well, first they have to get out of the judiciary committee, and this is where Rethugs blocked 39% of Clinton's nominees to the appellate court, primarily by the practice of "blue-slipping."

Orin Hatch and the Republicans then proceeded to change the rules when they regained the Senate in 2002! Orin now says these home state Senator "blue-slips" are "advisory" only.

Expose the bastards!

11. And when they whine about the filibuster not being in the constitution
Remind them that the Senate committee structure and procedures aren't in there either.

3. Rick Santorum was the worst
Two former Federal Prosecutors in Pennsylvania prosecuted too many GOP crooks - and they did not get an "Up or Down" vote.

4. How about that obscure fact that
94% of chimp's nominees for judge have already been voted on and confirmed?

6. This is typical of their arrogance
They think they should win EVERY fight and if they can't they change the rules.

5. Example - Jesse Helms blocked EVERY ONE of Clinton's nominees
to the Fourth Circuit from North Carolina, claiming that there was no need for additional judges. Certainly, it wasn't a coincidence that some of these judges were black and would have integrated the Circuit, which was still all-white, even though the Circuit has the highest African American population in the country.

But, lo and behold, as soon as Bush came in, Helms suddenly changed his mind and decided that, dang it, the Fourth Circuit DID need more judges and, he just happened to have the perfect guy in mind - Terrence Boyle, his old protege, son-in-law of John Ellis (remember him?) and a judge with one of the worst records on civil rights imaginable. So, Bush nominated Boyle and Helms moved heaven and earth to get him confirmed.

Fortunately, John Edwards was there to say no and, unlike some others, was able to fight off Hatch's attempt to force him through over his objection. With Edwards on the wall, Boyle never even got a hearing. But now he's gone (don't let anyone ever tell you that it doesn't matter who's in office - it certainly does) and Boyle got his hearing. Now the only thing protecting us from Boyle is the filibuster.

These people are rank hypocrites and we need to say it loud and clear and often. Write letters to the Editor, call your Senators, tell your friends, call into talk shows. DON'T let the lies stand unchallenged!

7. Terrence Boyle is part of the GOP Reactionary "Culture of Death"
with his own personal agenda - declaring that the Americans With Disabilities Act is unconstitutional.

A reactionary activist judge - with a reactionary activist agenda - who regards himself as a super-legislator.

8. Boyle is too extreme for even Clarence Thomas
who wrote the opinion in a unanimous reversal of one of Boyle's civil rights opinions (he's been reversed more than 150 times).
