This is a very disturbing story, and I don't doubt that concerted efforts are being made to coopt young military personnel to their program. After all, military backing and the equivalent of Hitler Youth serving as enforcers are a mainstay of fascist regimes.

11. I agree with you - he is THE BEST. His cartoons are powerful

and would be very useful in our compaign to open people's eyes to what has really been hanppening. That they are well-drafted makes them more convincing, that they are HILARIOUS makes them appealing and likely to be passed along, spreading the message of truth.

He's the funniest wake-up call I know.

I think you really have to be of a progressive mindset to find them funny. Face it, if you're a Bushbot, you're probably going to just stare and say "huh?"

To be honest, I've got that look from some local Dems I've shown it to. At first blush, Tomorrow's 'toon is kind of scary, cold, and alien-looking.

It's an acquired taste, but once you've got it, oh man.

Otherwise, surely it would have been first! And since this cartoon needs to be seen by people who DON'T already know what is really happening, "DU" would not have been understood. That's my theory and I'm sticking with it! :)

15. True - and his cartoons make it easier to bear and also easier to spread

the word about the lies and corruption. How he manages to be so incisively hard-hitting and yet keep his wonderful sense of humor I don't know, but the combination is powerful. I'm glad he's on our side, whether he finds the space for "Democratic Underground" or not! I wonder if he's a DU member and we see his posts without knowing it?

This one is not quite accurate on two points:

1. Wolf Blitzer would NEVER have the nads to do an exposé on a powerful neocon

has some wonderful selections. My favorite was the one with the retitled bodice-ripper romance novel covers. That one made me laugh til I hurt. But there are a lot of others too. Not all deal primarily with images, but some do.

I feel that humor is serious business in these hard times. It can be used to get the point across in a powerful way, like editorial cartoons do, and it can also be used to lift the spirits. That's so important.
