1. We need thousands descending upon Louisville on Sun. April 24
to protest in front of the new mega-Highview Baptist Church. That's the site of the telecast for the Family Research Council.

2. Why? So that CNN, MSNBC and FOX can run a story
about a few dozen protesters trying to interrupt a momentous occasion such as this?

Sorry to be cynical -- I just woke up that way today.

3. That would be fine with me. Show people it's possible to protest a church
and get away with it.

We need to organize quickly and figure out how to do it without blocking traffic too badly on US 60 so they don't disperse the crows.

8. Appears Dobson is going after five GOP Senators
Sens. Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins of Maine; Sen. Chuck Hagel of Nebraska; Sen. John Warner of Virginia; and Sen. Richard Lugar of Indiana.

Two weeks ago, Dobson sent an action alert to its members last week asking them to target 20 senators of both parties with the message: "We will remember how you vote on the confirmation of judges. If you attempt to use the filibuster to deny a vote to those who hold to conservative views, you will have to explain it the next time you run. That is a promise. It will not be forgotten."

See the recent news alert on Dobson's site which states he is starting an ad campaign in 18 states:

11. They've already arm-twisted and bribed just to get votes in the past
and kept voting open an extra 3-4 hours to do said arm-twisting and bribing.

Fucking slime is what they are. The "Party of Lincoln" is more like the "Party of Money".

KY (now controlled by the GOP) saw lobbyist money increase from $3 million in 2003 to $4.3 million in 2004.

14. They are going after NM's Senator Bingaman, too
The Albuquerque Journal had an advertisement attempting to link Bingaman to partial-birth abortion, attempting to slime our good senator. The main message, though, was, "Stop Senator Bingaman from preventing good judges from being appointed."

15. This is soooooooooo COOL!!!
It's time that there IS a showdown with the likes of Dobson. He is the one who cannot handle genuine democratic traditions. He wants to pull the chain of 20 Senators? Many of the more moderate Senators who have chosen to support their parties may just find thesmselves in enough of a hotseat to fight back. This could very well backlash.

6. Ha! Maybe The Pugs Should Be Worrying
The main danger for them at this point is from within. Unless they toe the fundie line they're not safe within their own party. Warner deserves the shock, all his skimming and evading of the truth has done him no good.

9. Lugar already appears to have been swayed
According to my local newspaper, Indianapolis Star, Lugar appears to have endorsed supporting the changes to the filibuster if "push comes to shove." I've called his office and let my thoughts be known.

10. I think it is good for Dems that the fundies show their colors
If Dobson and his crowd need money to continue, I'll contribute. The best fuckin' ad for separation of church and state is an active, politically pushy, overbearing reverend. In fact, the DNC should buy national TV time for the April 24th gathering. The hard right overplayed their Schiavo hand and they'll overplay the filibuster hand, if Dems will just stay out of their way.
If Frist is stupid enough to use the nuclear option and the Senate effectively shuts down for the rest of this term, it will be a public relations nightmare for the repukes. Frist IS stupid, without a doubt. He spends too much time talking and preaching to the choir.
I want to see the fundies in the brightest light of day. I want to see them in their full inquisition, anti-science mode, so everyone will know they are not just misguided, well meaning fools, but are malicious, evil people, no different than the mullahs they bad mouth so much.

12. Thank God James Dobson has finally spoken up --
-- against Sen. John Warner, that vile, socialist who is bringing down the moral structure of our nation.

_ _ _ _

Dobson is arguably the most dangerous human being in the United States.

16. Yes. I forgot about him. Those books look REAL creepy --
-- at the grocery store checkout line. I think I'd rather read the recent WEEKLY WORLD NEWS edition with the headline "Bigfoot Saves Baby from Flaming Camper!"

17. Is anyone else really excited about this?
I mean, protesting your own party? Thats a great sign. For so long, Republicans' stregnth has been in their solidarity, but maybe the Christian Right got too big for it's britches after all the credit it got in the last election. If their party starts to split as ours starts to unify, it can only mean good things for us.

This is also why our time is totally wasted going after guys like Lieberman when we don't control a single branch of government yet. See how the Republicans waited until they ruled the world to get to stuff like that?
