Please enlighten me on how to defeat the 'Big Guns'
Wal-mart and the tobacco companies, the big guns of the GOP. Most intelligent people want to take them down because they may destroy the health of the U.S., but they are the lifeblood of the GOP now, after they only enjoyed a modicum of support from the RTLers and the NRA. I'm concerned. How does a free America deal with this problem?

I'm not just talking about the funding the GOP receives from these corporate monoliths, which is significant, but in the age where advertising is accompanied by ingenious and highly researched psychological persuasion techniques, they seem impossible to defeat. I'm concerned, and I'm new here, so what can be done, tell me?

1. Tobacco companies, just keep taxing the products they sell....
...limit who they can market too and keep health danger issues open and exposed.

Wal-Mart needs to be consistently hit with anti-trust and fair labor violation law suits.

2. Agreed, but...
Agreed, but these corporations are big supporters of Bush and probably any future Republican candidate because Republicans will weaken any punishment brought onto them by the courts.

I don't see Democrats standing a chance unless these corporate leaders can somehow be convinced from the inside that they need to consider morals and ethics. These are very powerful forces of (for lack of a better word) evil.

Otherwise, if Democrats can't defeat them, should we just support them and hope they show us some mercy?

i know buddha thought it was possible for all . but i currently disagree.

better to just boycott walmart. And help unionize them.

in general to bring down all the gop, all parts of it,

nothing you can do will equal your helping spread AAR.

air america radio.

best way to spend time. Most bang for the buck, in a manner of speaking.

we have great messages, but only our own media will ever spend hours putting the details across to the millions.

soundbtes will never get our details across. The RW knows this fact, and so they have over 12OO radio stations.

Set up a yahoo groups group to organize support for AAR to grow into your area. It .. yahoo.. is free.
google "Yahoo Groups". Might use DU state forums to announce your effort, if DU lets one mention yahoo groups. I dont know what the rules say on that. Check the DU rules first, probably wise.

AAR can bring down tobacco, walmart, anything on the RW. It is our leading edge. Beware of Hate Radio's new effort to end AAR by setting up a clone of AAR called Progressve Radio.
They will likely stunt AAR's growth, steal sponsors, and then shut PR down. ONly to start up a new version of PR two months later to do it all over again. Some people will fall for PR and waste their time on it.

dont get sucked into it. Hate Radio is properly called Clear Channel. Birthed Limbaugh.

PS.. WELCOME to DU! Stick around. Liked your post.

4. I feel like Chicken Little
Thanks for the welcome. I had been posting to a right wing website, but after 1000 posts, decided I'm helping them more than convincing them to change.

We don't have AAR here in Chicago anymore. I have to listen to hate radio like Hannity and Limbaugh. I loved Air America Radio during the short time is was on here. Every other station seems to follow a monotonous format that AAR overcame. Even when it was on the air, their signal was staticy (maybe it was being interefered with) and of course they did not have the same kind of sponsorship. I will look into their website though and see if there is anything I can do.

I feel a bit like Chicken Little here, but I'm afraid that the GOP is pretending to be weak now in order to give Democrats a sense of false hope, but that they're unstoppable sharks. They're puppets of the most powerful financial interests on the planet. I guess my main concern is that I hope they aren't being underestimated.
