Chimpy Should Stay Home
In hear he's going to the Pope's funeral. I don't think I have to spell out the risk for the MILLIONS of people there, do I? He'll not hesitate to use this politically, and I for one believe he will pay politically.

1. He will.

After he collects the political capital of leaking an intention to be the "first President" to attend a Pope's funeral, he'll try to eat his cake, too ... by deciding it's in the "best interests" of the people that he send Jeb and Condi.

I'll give odds he doesn't go. Quite frankly, I'd love to see him attend and have people turn their backs on him. That narcissistic asshole would try to give a homily from the pulpit and take communion (free wine?!?!) just because he can't help but make it about himself. At some point, Rove will switch to Jeb because Jeb can take part in the rites as a Catholic.

2. He already IS using this politically.
Extolling the virtues of the pope as "a leader of freedom" is incredibly narrow.

I wonder if Dick Cheney is offering fashion advice on what NOT to wear.

Bushes to Attend Pope's Funeral in Italy

WASHINGTON - President Bush and his wife will attend Pope John Paul II's funeral, the White House said Monday

Press secretary Scott McClellan said the White House would announce the rest of the delegation that will attend with Bush later on Monday. He said with all the countries planning to send high-level representatives to the funeral, the United States will keep its delegation small.

He said the Bushes probably will leave Wednesday for the Friday funeral, although plans were still being finalized.

McClellan said Bush will reschedule plans for a Thursday trip to South Carolina to push for change to the Social Security system. ...............

Bush will still host Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon at his Texas ranch next Monday, McClellan said.

9. I doubt it, but it would be a good piece of PR for him
Good kind hearted Bush - not! There are lots of Catholic Senators - Bush would probably even invite Teddy Kennedy before Kerry. (My guess if there are n people in the US, Kerry might be number n.)
