This is exciting to me. We have Tom Hughes coming to Tampa for state organizing tomorrow. He is executive director of DFA. Next week's meet-ups will include this video with Jim Dean and Ben from Ben and Jerry's, and a special guest at the end of the video.
http://www.blogforamerica.com/archives/006161.htmlNext week at Meetups, DFA groups around the country are working with TrueMajority ACTION members to continue the fight to protect Social Security by planning a National Day of Action on April 14th. On the National Day of Action, DFA groups will hold meetings in more than 100 Congressional districts across the country. At each meeting, constituent delegations of DFA and TrueMajority ACTION members will meet with members of Congress or with their staff. The DFA groups will give a short overview of our concerns about Social Security and each constituent will make a short prepared remark. The groups will also deliver the stories and testimonials of local Democracy for America members.
The National Day of Action is a crucial part of the overall campaign to protect Social Security. If the Congressperson is on our side on Social Security, the meetings will be an opportunity to figure out how to work together to oppose the President's plan. If the Congressperson is supporting the President, the meetings are a chance to make it clear where their constituents stand and that we're planning to hold them accountable in 2006 for any vote to dismantle the most successful social program in our nation's history. There will be a DVD at Meetup with information about the National Day of Action. The video includes a very special guest...
