Very rarely does the everyday public get a glimpse of what happens behind the scenes in a normally-secret Bush Administration.
But Monday, March 28, the Secret Service called three everyday people into their offices to discuss why we were kicked out of a presidential event in Denver last week where Bush promoted his plan to privatize Social Security. What they revealed to us and our lawyer was fascinating.

There we were - three people who had personally picked up tickets from Republican Congressman Bob Beauprez's office and went to a presidential event. But as we entered, we were told that we had been "ID'ed" and were warned that any disruption would get us arrested.

After being seated in the audience we were forcibly removed before the President arrived, even though we had not been disruptive. We were shocked when told that this presidential event was a "private event" and were commanded to leave.

The Constitution clearly says that CONGRESS shall make no law abridging the freedom of speech. The Executive can apparently do whatever it damn well pleases.

What I'd like to know is where are all the bulldogs of the Fourth Estate (Jiffy Jeff excluded) who were so up in arms about all the "waste" in the Executive branch under Clinton, and the snoops who had to, had to, had to know whether Al Gore was making fundraising calls from his office phone (a no-no) or on the phone line provided by his campaign. As I recall, there was no shortage of would-be Sherlock Holmes trying to ferret out the Truth in these situations.

Something as blatantly corrupt as this happens right before their jaded eyes, and they just can't be bothered.

responsible for distributing the tickets and are turning events that are funded by tax dollars into private affairs, that must be be a violation of something . . . isn't it?

10. I myself had invitation via two separate emails to attend that same

event, I live here in Golden...I wondered if I was IDed as Well...I did not wish to attend the event, so I never went to pick up the tickets.

Makes me wonder what is going on.


Edit: I had written to the Representative on other issues, he has been killing forests to send me his junk mail ever since. I was mildly surprised by the two emails.
