What's the deal with Bo Dietl?

I saw him on Fox over the weekend and remembered reading something on DU about how full of sh*t he is but I can't find anything aside from this from tompaine.com on his racist homophobic and xenophobic comments on Imus.

I do remember a very embarassing segment he was featured in on the Daily Show too.

1. Ex-Cop.

Loudmouth. Relentless self-promoter. Gets more face time than he ever really deserved. A pal of Imus, which raised his profile far more than he ever deserved.

Just one of those "media figures" that leave you scratching your head.

2. He's on Imus frequently.

He must be connected (if you know what I mean). Otherwise, there's no excuse for him.

He produced The Bone Collector. Big budget.

He also has something to do with keeping Imus' brother employed: home security company, I think.

He's an idiot.

6. he's an automatic "channel change" when Imus has him on

it's interesting to see how Imus is seen by many on DU ... I see Imus as someone who rejects anything whatsoever that has a "PC" smell to it ... he's lewd and crude ... but there's an underlying integrity to the guy ... and i like that ...

but this Dietl weasel? that i don't get at all ... the guy's a total loser ... i wish they'd get rid of him ...

3. It's All A Put-On...

...for the Imus show. At least that's the way I take it. I don't place any credence in what Bo says, and doubt if anyone, including Imus, does.

He's an ex-NYC cop and Homicide Detective.
He broke a very famous case in Harlem, New York City when he found the teenagers who raped and mutilated a Nun. Legend has it, he got the teenager to confess by hanging him by his ankles off the edge of a 12 story Harlem tenement apartment building.

There was a book and a movie written and produced about him called "One tough Cop".

After he retired from the NYC Police force he formed his own security company as he had experience being a bodyguard to any number of Arab Sheiks.

He's no dummy.
He's taken his career as a infamous cop and parlayed it into a fortune.

He portrays himself as a racist, homophobic, idiot but that's just a facade.

IMUS has had him on for years on his radio show and recently he was in one of the last "Law and Order" TV shows with Jerry Orbach.
