BBC POLL: Most back the idea of stronger UN...even the U.S...Sorry GOP!

Once again, news the MSM will ignore. (Schiavo-gate still running strong...poor women. I wish the media would leave her alone.)

And once again, GOP rhetoric about where the mainstream is on issues founders under the facts. The latest example: The United Nations

Reviled by many jingoistic conservatives, The United Nations is still seen by the world...including the US as an imprtant institution that needs to be strengthened and improved...not dismantled.

excerpts:

There is overwhelming popular support for the UN to be reformed, according to a BBC World Service poll among the citizens of 23 countries.

They favoured a more powerful UN and backed the idea of adding Germany, India, Japan and Brazil to the organisation's Security Council.

The proposal to expand the UN Security Council to include new permanent members was supported by a majority in 22 of the 23 countries. (Russia was the exception)

These included majority backing in four of the current permanent members, the US (70%), Britain (74%), France (67%) and China (54%).

Again, Kerry was right and Bush was wrong on the issues....not only in the eyes of the world but of the US too. Oh well.
