Senate intervenes.

This was locked in LBN, but I did not see any others. Just out.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. Senate on Sunday unanimously passed legislation aimed at prolonging the life of a brain-damaged woman, Terri Schiavo, by moving the Florida case into the jurisdiction of federal courts.
In a rare Sunday session, the Senate interrupted what was to have been the start of a two-week congressional break, to pass the bill on a voice vote.

After a temporary delay due to objections by some Democrats, the House of Representatives was expected to take up the same legislation late Sunday night and pass the measure early Monday morning."

Unanimous.

1. Wait...I thought they wanted to cut down the
"Frivilous" lawsuit dealing with medical care in the Federal courts. Can we say flipflop?

2. Are they insane? I mean, THEY ARE INSANE.
The "people" whom they claim to represent are lined up about 3 to 1 against government interference with this sort of thing. They have completely lost it, they exist in their own little house of horrors universe of perceived public opinion. We are in deep trouble.

3. WHEN did this happen? They weren't supposed to have met
until tomorrow, from what I heard.

How many were there? WHO voted for this?

4. What Senate Dems are even there? I know the Senate Dem
leadership is in the Middle East and most people have gone home.

5. A lot of them were involved in saying ok to this.
There was a lot of discussion on this. I posted a lot on it here, and there has been a lot at Kos. Maybe deals were made somehow. I don't have a clue what.

6. I wish they would say who actually was there-"the Sparsest of Attendance"

WASHINGTON — With the sparsest of attendance, the Senate unanimously passed on Sunday a bill to try to help brain-damaged patient Terri Schiavo (search) by pushing her case into a federal court for consideration.

I know, it is Faux but somebody linked to it at Kos. I wish they would say exactly how sparse. I'm curious.

Did you watch the press conference today of the Democratic House members? Their is link to it at the Cspan website but it isn't working right now.

7. I suspect it was a handful of Republicans. The Dems in the House
weren't expecting the Senate to meet until tomorrow!

9. This does not change anything
At least those who were there were ready to say something.

Those who were not there did not even have the courage to stand for their ideas on this question.

Congratulations for the Dems in the House. At least. congresspeople will have to be on the record on this question.
