Bush "Panic Attack" Press Conference Speech Today isn't on C-Span Repeat?
Edited on Wed Mar-16-05 07:29 PM by KoKo01
I just checked out C-Span for it's repeats tonight and that horrible Chimp "Implosion" of a Press Conference Speech he gave today isn't even listed!!!

Maybe I missed something that "C-Span" is planning to add at the "last minute" but didn't C-Span used to cover ALL PRESIDENTIAL PRESS CONFERENCES???? Here's the link to C-Span tonight and into the "wee hours." If anyone finds a link to the Chimp's BIG IMPLOSION TODAY...pleas post it here..or in separate post on DU...Folks are waiting for the TRUTH! Bush was close to a MAJOR PANIC ATTACK today.

We need to have a video capture of it......if anyone can help us here with that. :shrug:

4. it's likely that both the Senate and House
will go very late into the wee hours tonight and so I suspect C-SPAN is waiting to see what kind of time they have left, after the Senate and House adjourn. C-SPAN's schedule is constantly changing so I wouldn't take this as the final word.

They did broadcast it live on C-SPAN3 so they definitely have it available & I'd be surprised if they don't rebroadcast it.

Edited on Wed Mar-16-05 07:40 PM by Nothing Without Hope
Pres. Bush Press Conference (03/16/2005)

It's starting with his standard blather on Social Security. Makes me sick. It's about 47 minutes long. What part are you pointing us toward? I can't bear to look at it all. The levels of lies are awful.

4 minutes in, the questions are starting. First is about pulling out of Iraq...

Edited to add a quote 7 minutes in - "the coalition is buoyed by the courage of the Iraqi people."

Now he's talking about "nukular weapons," this time with respect to one of his favorite military target, Iran.

Need DU'ers who can capture that! I'm Computer tech deficient..:shrug:

19. I didn't see much of an implosion...
Quite honestly, I didn't see much of an implosion. Just the run-of-the-mill bad press conference.

http://www.suntimes.com/output/elect/bushtext16.html

Q: Thank you.

You're talking about going to the Security Council if Iran turns down this EU-3 deal. Iran says they're not making nuclear weapons.

Are we looking at a potential military confrontation with Iran?

BUSH: No, that we've got a lot of diplomacy, you know.

I mean, there's a lot of diplomacy in this issue. And that's why I was so pleased to be able to participate with our friends France and Great Britain and Germany, to say to the Iranians, We speak with common voice. And we share suspicions, because of your past behavior.

And the best way to ensure that you do not develop a nuclear weapon is for you to have no enrichment of plutonium-- have no highly enriched uranium program or plutonium program that could lead to a weapon.

That's what we've said.

And we've just started the process. We just had the discussion.

How long ago was I in Europe? Maybe 10 days or so? Two weeks? Yes, two weeks.

I mean, it takes a while for things to happen in the world. I know there's a certain impatience with a never-ending news cycle, you know. But things don't happen necessarily overnight the way some would like them, you know, Solve this issue and we go to the next issue.

There a certain patience required in order to achieve a diplomatic objective.

And our diplomatic objective is to continue working with our friends to make it clear to Iran we speak with a single voice.

Listen, whoever thought about modernizing this room deserves a lot of credit.

It's like there's very little oxygen in here anymore.

And so for the sake of a healthy press corps and a healthy president, I'm going to end the press conference.

But I want to thank you for giving me a chance to come by and visit. I wish you all-- genuinely wish you all a happy Easter holiday with you and your family.

Thank you.

A couple of questions were actually hardball- * was put on the defensive about the gov't propaganda "news" tapes - tried to relate them to agricultural dept. films. Got testy and impatient at the end and made that weird "oxygen" remark.

26. Did the CSpan "tape" seem to get funny during the last 5 minutes
during that exchange? It seemed to "break up" and I couldn't see Bush and then it panned to the press corps and was breaking up and the image of Bush and the corps sort of overlapped.

He seemed to lose it as he went into the bit about diplomacy taking time....(ass)

24. OK, I JUST WATCHED THE WHOLE THING. I didn't see an implosion.
It was a truly disgusting display and a pack of lies, but we expect that from him.

Almost at the very end, just in the last couple of minutes, he starting giving body language signals that he wanted to end the conference. Then he said something nonsensical about "healthy design" of the press room, that there needed to be more oxygen in it. Then he ended the press conference and walked away.

It was an appalling performance - which is normal for him -- but not one that make him look like he was having some kind of a breakdown. He hates press conferences but his handlers must have told him he needed to have one. So he stuck it out as long as he could, mouthing talking points and distortions and lies with that ugly smirk, and then he (as we say in Texas in what is probably a reference to a fleeing deer) "high-tailed it out of there."

27. Compare him to any other President giving a Press Conference...and
here's what I saw:

NFORMATION CENTERS:
Diseases and Conditions
Panic attacks
From MayoClinic.com
Special to CNN.com

Overview

It can happen anytime, anywhere. When you're alone. With others. At home. In public. Wakening you from a sound sleep. Suddenly, your heart begins to race, your face flushes and you experience shortness of breath. You feel dizzy, nauseated, out of control. Some people even feel like they're dying.

You may have experienced a panic attack — a sudden episode of intense fear that prompts physical reactions in your body. Many people, thinking they're having a heart attack, go to the emergency room. Others try to ignore the signs and symptoms, not realizing that they're experiencing a panic attack.

Although panic attacks were once dismissed as nerves or stress, they're now recognized as a potentially disabling but treatable condition. Approximately 2.4 million American adults experience a panic attack each year. Women are twice as likely as men to have panic attacks.

A variety of approaches, including medications, therapy and relaxation techniques, can help you control or prevent panic attacks.

# Mental Health
Signs and symptoms

A panic attack often begins abruptly, peaks within 10 minutes and lasts about half an hour. But panic attacks have many variations. They may last hours or, on rare occasions, up to a day. You may feel fatigued and worn out after a panic attack subsides.

Signs and symptoms may include:

* Rapid heart rate
* Sweating
* Trembling
* Shortness of breath and hyperventilation
* Chills
* Hot flashes
* Nausea
* Abdominal cramping
* Chest pain
* Dizziness
* Tightness in your throat
* Trouble swallowing
* A sense of impending death

Other health problems — such as an impending heart attack, an overactive thyroid gland (hyperthyroidism) or drug withdrawal — can cause signs and symptoms similar to those of panic attacks. It's not unusual for panic attacks to occur together with depression.

# Chest pain

# Depression

# Feeling of unreality (depersonalization)
Causes

Researchers aren't sure what causes panic attacks. Heredity, stress and certain biochemical factors may play a role. Your chance of having panic attacks increases if you have a close family member who has had them.

Many researchers believe your body's natural fight-or-flight response to danger is involved. For example, if a grizzly bear came after you, your body would react instinctively. Your heart and breathing would speed up as your body readied itself for a life-threatening situation. Many of the same reactions occur in a panic attack. No obvious stressor is present, but something trips your body's alarm system.
When to seek medical advice

If your panic attacks are frequent — four or more a month — or if fear of having them affects your activities, you may have a condition called panic disorder. This condition can greatly interfere with your life. It's also possible that other health problems — such as an impending heart attack, hyperthyroidism or drug withdrawal — can cause symptoms similar to panic attacks. See your doctor to determine what's causing your symptoms. Your doctor may refer you to a psychiatrist or psychologist.

25. Same bushit, different day
I just suffered through watching the normal *it lying and stammering and was dissapointed not to see a meltdown/panic attack any worse than normal. Just the standard rambling and trying to keep the lies straight without blurting things out like isn't it nice the Iraqi's didn't have to worry about threats like having one of their family members taken out if they went to vote. Oh wait, he did say that today. Gee, I wonder how an insane scenario like that got into the little chimpie's head?

32. That was my take on it also.
But among the stupidies, there were a lot of significant statements on policy and "facts" that need to be looked at carefully. He MUST be held accountable.

There's more than one reason he hates press conferences. They put things on the record for what's left of the press to archive and produce later to make a point. Easier to lie if your words aren't preserved.

He said a lot of things that are quite important, and he also spoke like a complete idiot.

I just watched the clip at C-Span. What I saw is what I always see when Shrub orates...an embarrassing excuse for a world leader. But I didn't see anything I would call a "meltdown", just the same old BS.

Have you ever known any president to use so many words to say absolutely nothing? The reason he can't communicate intelligently is because he chooses not to. It reminds me of a scene from "Best Little Whorehouse in Texas". When the Governor (Charles Durning) holds a press conference and all the reporters shake their heads and ask "What did he say?", or "Did he answer the question?"

I'm not sure why he even bothers holding press conferences. He gets by answering fewer and fewer questions each time. I wish that the reporters would just quit showing up.
