26 House Dems. sign resolution to force Gannon vote
Reps. Conyers, Slaughter, Thompson, Rangel and Waxman Author Resolution of Inquiry on GannonGate

Resolution Will Force Cooperation, Unless Blocked by House Republicans

3/3/2005

Washington, DC - The Ranking Members for House Committees on Rules, Judiciary, Government Reform, Homeland Security and Ways and Means have authored a Resolution of Inquiry, which would require the Justice Department and Department of Homeland Security to turn over all documentation regarding James Guckert’s (AKA Jeff Gannon) regular access to the White House.

(snip)

“We had hoped that the half dozen congressional and senate requests for information would have been sufficient. However, to date, they have not even merited a response from the White House or its agencies. We hope that this resolution gets to the bottom of whether any processes were abused in favoring Mr. Guckert, a fake reporter from a fake news organization,” Rep. Conyers said.

COSPONSORS:
Rep. Howard Berman (California, 28th)
Rep. Rick Boucher (Virginia, 9th)
Rep. Michael Capuano (Massachusetts, 8th)
Rep. Peter DeFazio (Oregon, 4th)
Rep. Alcee Hastings (Florida, 23rd)
Rep. Maurice Hinchey (New York, 22nd)
Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (Texas, 18th)
Rep. Barbara Lee (California, 9th)
Rep. Zoe Lofgren (California, 16th)
Rep. Jim McDermott (Washington, 7th)
Rep. James McGovern (Massachusetts, 3rd)
Rep. Jerrold Nadler (New York, 8th)
Rep. Linda Sánchez (California, 39th)
Rep. Adam Schiff (California, 29th)
Rep. Bobby Scott (Virginia, 3rd)
Rep. Adam Smith (Washington, 9th)
Rep. Chris Van Hollen (Maryland, 8th)

2. This shows that any congressman that blocks this
is guilty by complicity. Are any of these people customers for Gannon's alternative gig? Who in the whitehouse might be a customer or business associate of Gannon's other occupation? How come Gannon hasn't been arrested for solicitation? Which congressman will participate in the stonewall of Gannon to prevent his own alternative lifestyle from coming to light?

5. I think
whoever does block it would be the key to finding out how he got in. Should be interesting on the outcome and if they do block it it'd be interesting as to their excuse why.

7. One reason would be that Dems are
homophobic and gay bashers. Isn't that some sh!t.

17. Bingo! We have a wiener!
I have expected this for a while from Conyers. This is EXACTLY how Conyers helped forced some Watergate scandals to light. This is a Catch 22. Anyone stepping forward to defeat this action or defend Guckert will make himself the target of the investigative team. This is the beginning of a forced probe (no pun intended) into just how many people might be involved in all this mess. Conyers is a smart man. Nixon was pretty terrified of the young Conyers. From what I can tell the old Conyers has only honed those talents and there are a whole lot of thugs in DC that are trying to keep him quiet by impugning the record of a man who REALLY has stood the test of time and who's record is not very easy to distort!

4. 26! Aren't there 200+ Dems in the house?
How many house members does it take to make this happen? If it takes a majority, I doubt it will happen!

It's always nice to see some independant Dems fighting for what we believe in, but I think it's a losing battle unless they can convince at lease several Pubs to go along.

Scan the list, it is cross country / cross cultural.

Are you Loiuse Slaughter is not supportive?

The only list of names that counts is when the vote has been cast.

6. How can 26 house members force anything?
Doesn't that require a majority vote?

9. I think the idea is that once it's on the calendar,
they'll either have to vote for it or go on record as covering up for a homosexual prostitute. . .

. . .of course since Guckert is a Bush-whackin' Christian that shouldn't be a problem.

13. Resolution of Inquiry
A resolution of inquiry forces a house floor vote. Period.

14. Pubs HAVE TO take the vote?
I hope you're right about that. I simply don't know. I always thought it too a specific # of Congressman to force a subject to come to the floor.

15. the answer is...
because these are members of specific commitees.. read the 1st line again. If they vote on it we will see if any dems are corrupt or dumb enough to vote against the inquiry.

EXPOSE PROPAGANNON!

18. There is something very interesting about the committee's these people
represent.

If you're curious Congress.org lists the committees each of these congresspeople represent. Just type in the last name and a page will come up that will list or lead you to a list of the committees they serve on.
