Stop Illegal Immigration -- Raise the Minimum Wage
I wish the Democratic Party would start linking these two issues together. Businesses love illegal immigration. Those that hire illegal immigrants get workers on the cheap, and even those that don't benefit indirectly through the downward pressure on wages. But nno business is going to take a chance on hiring illegal immigrants if they have to pay anything that even remotely approaches a living wage.

Defends of illegal immigrants contend that they don't take jobs away from citizens and legal residents, because they do the kind of work that other people won't do. But the truth is that there isn't a single job that citizens and legal residents wouldn't be willing to fill if the price were right. Illegal immigration simply allows business to pay below-market wages.

1. Umm...

They don't pay illegal immigrants the minimum wage as it is. The whole reason why the politicians don't fight illegal immigration tooth and nail is because their consituents (you don't qualify as a constituent these days unless you are a business owner) need a workforce that is "sub human" to kick around.

2. Actually it's passing the cost from the business back to society......
As society will have to pick health care, schooling of children and many others services that government provides.

But it may simplistic to suggest that raising the minimum wage would solve this problem. Many of those people are already working under the table.

3. I agree completely
It's not a coincidence that wages stagnation parallels the increased pattern of illegal aliens.

And what really amazes me is that organized labor is working against American workers in favor of backing illegals in an effort to boost their membership.

The American worker has been abandoned by politicians, labor, employers, etc. And they are all profiting by their treachery.

And don't get me started on Free Trade.
