3. IMO this is the issue that keeps voters at home,
they feel their concerns aren't addressed even when the official the vote for is elected.

It's a very common sentiment that needs to be addressed by the blue revolution.

6. Yep
If "we the people" meant anything to BushCo he wouldn't have even been there in 2000. Al Gore would've had his re-election by now probably. Or at least someone better then Bush from the right.

7. Somewhere along the way...of the people became -
Edited on Thu Mar-03-05 10:12 AM by higher class
of the corporation, by the corporation, for the corporation.

And few of us realize it.

Don't forget...stockholders in these companies are facilitating and perpetuating the takeover.

The stockholders are as much to blame as the CEO's...because it is alwlays said that the corporation have to outsource and close down in the States and move out, and find ways not to pay taxes, find loopholes and bank offshore because the stockholders demand cuts and more divedends. So aren't they as much to blame as the CEO's and the cabal since there are companies who don't find Arthur Anderson type companies to help them cook the books, who don't outsource, etc.

Which ties to ss - privatizing ss to make corporations get rich when they will probably outsource the accounting and every other job associated with running it - is ludicrous. And possibly, on demand of the stockholders, if things don't go well in one quarter, the stockholders will demand that the corporation drop the ss and it will be sold and resold, possibly with deteriorating protections and values.

8. they do nothing in the interests of the common folk anymore
they tell outrageous lies and half the voting public can't see through it. I shudder to think how far America will sink before the people wake up; I am beginning to fear it may already be too late.

9. It is the lesson too many have forgotten
Part of our job is to give the civics classes and remind them.

We The People = hey, folks, democracy is NOT a spectator sport and freedom wasn't won once upon a time a long time ago. Freedom is won each and every day and it happens here at home, not in battle on some far off shore.

Skittles, when I get really down about how bad things are, I sit and contemplate the founders. They were a pretty small minority of people working in a population which was mainly concerned with just managing to get by. Sounds awfully familiar to me. We won't swing things back in what is left of my lifetime, but we might in yours. For that reason, I choose to keep plodding along, prodding my fellows along with me.

We The People can do it again.
