Stewart is the last person I'd call a "suck ass to the GOP". What do you want? Someone that tells you only what you want to hear all the time?

I don't want Jon to be the Rush Limbaugh or Sean Hannity of the Left. I like to hear opposing points of view, and I like to see constructive debate. If all you do is criticize all the time, your views become marginalized and you lose the debate without a shot being fired.

People have to be reasonable and deal with opposing viewpoints, and give credit where credit is due. If all you do is complain, and never offer an alternate solution, you lose.

Stewart is the most reasonable man Left of Center. I enjoy him, and he does a wonderful service for the country. Just because he's making some positive comments about the attitude change of several countries in the Middle East does NOT make him a "GOP Suck Ass".

Ghaddifi (or however the hell we're spelling his name these days) knuckling under is a GOOD thing. Lebanon's change in government is a GOOD thing. The marginalization of Syria (which is by NO means a Jordan) is a GOOD thing.

Surely SOMETHING good can come of the sacrifice of thousands of our troops and hundreds of thousands of Iraqis. Jon Stewart is a good man, and he's HELPING America.

5. It's all about THE BOOK!!!!!!
Ari's book was released today--he's off on the big book tour. He'll probably do Imus, all of the late nights, all of the 'good morning' shows too, and of course, all of the cable talking heads. Shill, shill, shill, it's what they do best.

You've got to imagine that he is a little pissed off, though. Guckert-Gannon, the Loose Cannon, is not going away, and HE HAD SOME INVOLVEMENT in that imbroglio. I think it had something to do with his departure. Here's hoping SOMEONE has the stones to ask the guy the HARD questions about "Soft Pass" JimmyJeff!

8. My guess:
Jon will be polite to Ari. Most of the interview will be about the book, but Jon will get in 1 or 2 tough questions which will be batted back a forth a few times before Jon diverts the discussion with some funny comment that lets Ari off the hook and back to the book.

13. Do YOU have an "inside" scoop that the interview will suck?
Or are you one of those counseling us to abandon Stewart because he made one non-Republican-hating comment? (To balance the anti-Republican zingers offered every night.)

And Michael Moore is a) only in it for the money, b) too far left, c) fat.

Let's not forget that Robert Byrd was a Klansman.

Who will be pure enough?

There was an article in a NY newpaper stating that they found Cordrey doing a Gannon-impression at a press conference at city hall. He called himself Dino Ironbody.

Edit: She's pissed off at people saying anything bad at him due to disagreements in my topic about Jon Stewart's last comment essentially linking Bush's policies to Lebanon's success.

And no doubt, given some of his remarks during Ari's time as WH Press Secretary, an interview that Jon is not looking forward to at all.

23. Are people really upset that Stewart praised Democratic reforms in the M.E
????

Thats pretty sad, there's nothing worse then when people put thier own ideology ahead of seeing a better world, you might even call it a republican tendency....

25. I wouldn't say he really praised what's going on...
...when he was interviewing a guest, he said, a few times that it appeared, that what was happening, in Lebanon, with the "spontaneous Protest," appeared, as if it could be a GOOD thing, and gave a few uncertain and hesitant (for comedic effect):eyes: yuppies and whaHoos.

Some folks here, are blowing that interview WAY out of proportion.:smoke:

People are upset because he essentially claimed Bush might be behind Lebanon, which is misinformation.

A few of us here have pointed out that Stewart presented misinformation and that it would be positive for him to do research before stating it. Many have jumped down the throat, so to speak, to iterate that he's great most of the time, so the one time he messes up deserves forgiveness. It reminds me beautifully of Republicans who claim that 'it was one mistake, yadda yadda.' Mistakes on either side need to be pointed out, especially when one has made a reputation of being so on-target. Forgiveness is there, but with a gentle reminder that he might want to think before opening his yap like that.

JS may just be a comedian, but he's one of the few people on television who has the reputation of holding politician's 'feet to the fire' (in his own words), no matter what his station. I praise him for his successes and watch his show religiously. I just find it amazing that constructive criticism for his spread of a particular piece of disinformation (in two interviews in a row) is met with such venom.

People would be all over a republican pundit, Dennis Miller, or even John Kerry for this.
