Rice, the face for war!

Just finished watching BBC discussing Bush's tour and the subsequent feelings of the EU. A member of the UK Green Party said that Bush was not to be trusted and that America should be considered a rogue nation. However, of course, a conservtive member of Parliament, Jonathon Evans, said that Bush had been very encouraging. Apparently, the UK Parliament voted overwhelmingly to support the US in sanctions and pressure on Iran and it's supposed nuclear weapons proliferations.

The discussion was quite lively as one would expect between the Greens and Conservatives. But what turned on the light bulb over my head was the argument regarding Iran and how the EU would go about shutting down Iran's procurement of WMD. The Green Party says that they were frightened by Bush's refusal to remove military action from the table and follow only a diplomatic approach, while the conservatives were pleased by RICE'S assurrances of following diplomatic options FIRST.

The Green Party laughed and said that they had heard that before and that Bush's rhetoric of spreading freedom was nothing more than a facade for war. Evans said that the Greens needed to think more like the adults and understand that democracy was a complicated issues.

So, there it is, Powell was the face for war in Iraq and now, it's Rice. The rhetoric is softer, more feminine, but none the less, the face of war.

and the UK Greens are smart enough to see it. I hope most of Europe is with them.

Bush. The rest of Europe (bar Poland *chuckle* and Italy) seem to abhor war. Understandable considering they have truly suffered the tolls of war on their own soil.

Her assurrances appear to have sway so some members of the EU. The German US delegate was saying that he'd like to use the UN as the stick and the US as the carrot in negotiations with Iran.

she has less crediablity than powell did. germany and the eu is using bush`s war drums as a wake up call to iran. either you get on board with the european union or you are going to face bush alone. this is europes last chance to keep iran from being blown to shit and europes last hope to save their business contracts with iran.

7. Agreed, but many in the EU are buying this softer, more diplomatic

approach Rice is seeming to convey to them. They honestly don't see Bush as a threat to Iran right now. Only the Socialist and Green parties across the EU see what we see, but politics is the same no matter what country your in. The conservatives across the board are seeing €€€ and $$$$$ in these oil rich lands. None of them want to go to war, so their swallowing this BS diplomacy in the false hopes that Bush can be trusted "this" time.
