Bush tries to rebuild ties in EU
Just caught the speech live here in France on the BBC. It's already on the site http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/4282051.stm

(snip)
The US president also urged European nations to give "tangible assistance" to Iraq.

"All nations now have an interest in the success of a free and democratic Iraq, which will fight terror, be a beacon of freedom, and be a source of true stability in the region," he said.

Mr Bush sought to heal divisions with European countries resulting from the Iraq war, calling for "a new era of transatlantic unity".

1. What a shameless, sniveling worm
Edited on Mon Feb-21-05 10:03 AM by zinsky

This man is gutless, two-timing and shameless beyond belief. He will say or do anything to avoid accountability. This is all a ploy to prevent the EC from eating our lunch economically, which they are already doing, thanks to Dumbya's "borrow and squander" economics policies. They will own this country at the rate we are going, and dipshit is just starting to realize this. He needs to suck up to Europe to avoid them foreclosing on their hillbilly neighbors who live off thier credit cards - US!

Meanwhile, our proxy army in Israeli is preparing to strike Iran militarily and undercut European diplomatic initiatives. This will give the Crawford cretin and Limp Dick Cheney "plausible deniability". These people are vermin.

2. And because it was BBC, they were playing up Bush's willingness
to regard previous disagreements with Europe as mere history and his belief in moving forward. They also neglected to show any of the protestors demonstrating outside in Brussels. Something that I had seen on the DU just the night before.

It was kind of funny because most of them didn't know when to applaud, but thanks to Rice and a few other neocons sitting in the front, they were given their cue.

You have alienated the world, no one is going to follow the lead of the only industrialized country that can't manage to feed their own, employ their own or give them health care. Piss off mate! Two finger salute-
