I think I heard Mike Malloy for the first time tonight
Was he discussing Red states, reading off Jeff Foxworthy's signs you are a redneck? Does he broadcast out of Georgia or come from there? Or is there another liberal Mike on the radio?

1. There is a whole listening party every night...
If only I could figure out how to find it. I am still new to this forum and don't exactly know my way around. It took me ages just to get my ducky icon. I think you can do a search for Malloy and the "truthseeker" threads should pop up. He is amazing, no? Ed Shultz is too right of center for me. Al is not angry enough although I adore him. Randi is angry enough, but Mike... he just gets the anger and the wise cracks down so well.

3. Mike is on AAR every night at 10 pm to 1 am est.
You can either click on "latest" here at DU, look at the very top of your screen and you'll see links to various radio shows, or you can go directly to Air America Radio www.aar.com and click on "listen".

7. I have to go find a post ralps made on the subject
I have a Mac, so I need something that works with iTunes. That said, the radio reciever on that software has a progressive station on it. www.powerradio.com

I think Mike might be on that. I should check it out more often.'

Thanks y'all for the info.

10. Radiopower.org, I believe.
I believe that the talk station on iTunes you are referring to is radiopower.org which doesn't carry Mike Malloy but *does* carry Thom Hartmann.

As others have said in the thread, you can check out White Rose Society - they have archived shows in Quicktime format. I'm not sure if there are any affiliates that offer live streaming in Quicktime, however.

4. I was so surprised
Liberal radio is so new to me. Ed was the first one I found, then I realized I could get Randi if the weather was right, then I discovered I could hear more on my mac mp3 player, and tonight I discovered Mike on the same channel as Randi. The reception is normally terrible, but tonight it was decent.

I'm just so happy to get any of them. I'm so sick of Right Wing radio. We need more than one voice out there.

I still like Ed for the fact that he probably reaches more rank and file people than Randi and the gang at AAR. And he appears to be growing darn quickly, if his own reports are to be believed.

At this point, I'll take them all. Any of them are better than Rush, or Glen Beck, or the local idiots. Huzzah!

Yes, Mike sounded good tonight. I got liberal ra-di-o. I got liberal ra-di-o. (dances the dance of joy)

13. Hey Fellow Cheeshead!
:hi:

I have a Mac too. All you have to do to get AAR is download RealPlayer (it's a free download), then click "Listen Live" at www.airamericaradio.com. I do that all the time. I never use i-Tunes for streaming.

Another handy trick is to pick up a $20 FM transmitter from Radio Shack, plug it into your computer's headphone jack, and broadcast Air America to the radios in your house.

15. Hi ClassWarrior,
Edited on Tue Feb-15-05 03:52 PM by ralps
www.airamericaradio.com also uses the windows media format. I had a bad experience with RealPlayer so I never use it. Also you all can get the Madison station on line although on Feb. 21 they will be carrying the Ed Schultz show . the new schedule will be
8am-11am         "The Stephanie Miller Show"

11am-2pm         “The Al Franken Show” with Al Franken and Katherine Lanpher

2pm-5pm           "The Ed Schultz Show"

5pm-7pm           “The Randi Rhodes Show”

7pm-9pm           “The Majority Report” with Janeane Garafalo and Sam Seder

9pm-Mid            “The Mike Malloy Show”
the web address for the Madison station is
http://madisonmix.com/main.html

16. Hi to another Cheesehead!
:hi:

Looks like "The Mic's" gonna have too much Ed and too little Randi for my taste. Though when I'm there, I don't tune in anything else.

And I LOVE Steph Miller, but I like Unfiltered too.

I think if I lived there, I'd still listen in the house on RealPlayer or Windows Media (you are correct, they now offer this too). Oh well. Hopefully one of the wimp stations in MKE will cave soon.

NGU.

2. Mike broadcasts from Newnan, Ga.
I don't know if he was reading from Foxworthy, but I doubt it, unless he gave the credit. Mike is a bit of a radical, but his shows are great. I know he's filling in this week for Randi Rhodes, and he did a great job.

I don't think he said it on the Randi show, but the one thing he is famous for is the statement "Have I mentioned how much I hate these people?"

5. Sounds like him
Yeah, he gave credit, then made fun of it after, doing a sort of fake Hee Haw voice.

I'll listen for his famous line the next time I can get that channel to come in properly.

I'm getting greedy. I want liberal radio in Milwaukee now, not just outlying areas and Madison.

9. AAR has a broadcast station here in Ga, but it's pretty weak.
They broadcast out of Athens, and I can get it in my car, but certainly not very strong, and a lot of static. I can't get reception in my house no matter what I try, so I listen on the net all the time.

I'm hoping that as AAR becomes more popular, either this station will get more power, or AAR will get on a stronger station out of Atlanta. Love to see them kick Boortz off!!!!

17. Love listening to Malloy on the way home at night...
He sure beats the hell out of Alan Colmes at the same time on Sirius's Radio Left or anything else local at that time.

Love how he rants on the "Bush Crime Family" so much. That's becoming more a part of our lexicon for the Bushco folks and he started it.

Also, if you can get the clips where he talks to Smeagol/Gollum, those can be a riot too!

this month from 2pm central time until 6pm central. You all can download Randi's shows at

Mike's regular show time is from 9pm to midnight central time, and radiopower.org does carry it. the DU MIke Malloy Truthseeker thread is in the General Discussion section. It usually starts at about 9pm central time. Today's valentines day thread might be on the greatest threads page.

14. Malloy is amazing. He is subbing for Randi's in the afternoon's while she
is away (Mondays I believe). Listening to him at night, just before bed can interfere with a good night's sleep. He really tells it like it is and that is sometimes disquieting and distinctly unrestful.
