Talon News - Major source of terrorist 'noise'
Remember all those terror alerts, especially at key points when W needed another distraction? Funny how a lot of that noise has died down since the election.

Well guess what, Talon News, GOPUSA, BushCountry and other sites were the main outlets for much of this noise. One individual in particular 'created' much of the details in these stories. That person is a fellow named Jeremy Reynalds, a homeless shelter provider and self proclaimed 'terrorist export'.

Reynalds would weave his tales and often posted them under the Talon News banner. From there they would appear on sites like GOPUSA and BushCountry. Before long they would be all over Free Republic and by that time the misinformation was well on the way to becoming common knowledge.

It seems that Reynalds and Talon News are primary sources for much of the 'noise' that triggered most of the terror alerts. So while they blame and accuse anonymous Muslims of all sorts of horrors, they are the ones who are terrorizing America. These vermin need to be exposed and prosecuted. They have cost the country billions of dollars, have caused 1000's of people to live in fear and have breed hatred toward entire communities of people, just because they have committed the sin of not being born white and christian.

Here are some examples of the terrorist propaganda that Talon News so willingly spews out on a regular basis.

Al Qaeda Again Threatens New York, Washington, and Los Angeles
GOPUSA, TX (www.gopusa.com)

By Jeremy Reynalds
Talon News
November 5, 2003

ALBUQUERQUE, NM (Talon News) -- A new message was posted Monday by the Jeddah-based, al Qaeda-linked Al-Islah (Reform) society calling on Muslims to flee New York, Washington, and Los Angeles in advance of threatened major al Qaeda attacks in those cities.

The warning was reported by www.debka.com, a respected Internet publication which claims to be "devoted to independent, investigative reporting and forward analysis in the fields of international terrorism, intelligence, international conflict, Islam, military affairs, security and politics."

A similar message also appeared Monday on a Yahoo! Group bulletin board (website). Apparently posted by Daleel Almojahid, it read, "This is the last call for Muslims in New York, the east side and Los Angeles to start leaving. The mojahideen are now ready to teach the US a lesson it will never forget."

Almojahid posted a subsequent message on his Yahoo! Group account. Headlined "You have to understand this is a war your government had started," it read in part: "I know that a lot of innocent people and Muslims are within these cities but you have to understand that this is a war your government had started. They have killed more than 2,000,000 Muslims in the past 12 years alone, 500,000 kids died in Iraq since 1990! What would you do if 2,000,000 Americans died from Muslims who are just attacking for money and oil and more wealth to their country! A lot of people asked me how much more time is there. I can only tell you get out as soon as you can. This is a war."

Terror Sympathizers Use Yahoo, Geocities to Spread Message
By Jeremy Reynalds
Talon News
April 28, 2004
(Talon News) -- It's not only in the United States that terrorists and terror sympathizers flock to Yahoo to make their message known. Yahoo's German division also hosts such sites.
The introduction to Iraqi News Net Yahoo group (web site) reads, "This is the INN. Our goal is to break the domination of Western media over public opinion. Their view on the war in Iraq is far from reality. We hope that we can show a bit more of the truth and the heavy losses of invaders and occupants of Iraq. INN is a pro-Iraqi Group."
The writer continues, "This site is made in solidarity to all heroic resistance fighters, if they are followers of communist, socialist, Nasserist, socialist-Baathist, Arab nationalist, non-fundamentalist Islamic ideals -- as long as they fight with all abilities against occupation and traitors for a free sovereign Iraq of the people and for the people. Long live Iraq! Long live Palestine, free and Arab from the river to the sea! Free all political prisoners, arrested by the illegal occupation forces in Iraq or their 'Iraqi' puppet regime! One Arab nation with one mission. LIBERTY! UNITY! SOCIALISM!"
In another example from this group, titled "Bastards of Fallujah - Killing around Fallujah, a (expletive) Sniper's Dream," the article read in part, "Taking a short breather Friday, the 21-year-old US Marine bastard explained what it was like to practice his lethal skill in the battle for this city. 'It's a sniper's dream,' he said. 'You can go anywhere, and there are so many ways to fire at the enemy without him knowing where you are.' The role of snipers has become a significant tactic for Marine swines in this 'Sunni Triangle' city."

A Frightening Message from Inside Islam
By Barbara J. Stock
February 10, 2005

A few weeks ago I received an e-mail message from a man who called himself "Tim." He explained that this was not his real name. "Tim" was using this name so that he could remain anonymous. He needs to stay in the realm of the unknown. Tim is a marked man because he has done the unthinkable--the unforgivable. Tim has left Islam and in doing so, he has become a "kaafir"--an infidel--and an apostate. The Quran says: "Those who believe, then disbelieve, then believe and disbelieve again will never be forgiven by Allah."

Yahoo Group Advocates Killing Bush, American Soldiers in Iraq
By Jeremy Reynalds
Talon News
April 19, 2004

ALBUQUERQUE, NM (Talon News) -- A Yahoo-hosted Internet group is openly advocating the killing of President George W. Bush and American soldiers serving in Iraq.
The group's introductory page (web site) reads, "Kill every Gi in Iraq, stick every American pig in this country! Every time an american soldier dies, I applaud. In this group: Iraqi Resistance Report, news about the deadliest strikes against U.S. forces and... some pictures of dead Gi's. "
The same page also has a picture of four soldiers carrying a coffin.
Expanding on the apparent intent of the group, one of the archived messages reads, "Let's see some American boys get castrated... the more savage the butchery, the faster the troops will be leaving Iraq."
The group was begun on July 21, 2003. The first 11 messages available on the group's archive (web site) were posted on the same day as the group's founding by an individual self-identified as "antibushjr."

it just keeps getting weirder and weirder.

See freeps? See what happens when you don't use your head for something else besides a hat rack? Start THINKING over there, use your heads. These people are USING you to create fear in the hearts and minds of Americans.

Not that you probably give a shit freeps, but I'd be a little upset if I were being used as an instrument of terror no matter WHO was in the White House.

they NEED it to justify their bigotry and racism and misogyny. The GOP knows that and that is how they can successfully get freeper-types to vote against their own self-interest.

So is Talon News a product of Rumsfeld's "defunct" Office of Strategic Influence?

-snip

The OSI came under scrutiny last February, when the New York Times reported (2/19/02) that the new Pentagon group was “developing plans to provide news items, possibly even false ones, to foreign media organizations.” The news was met with outrage, and within a week the Pentagon had closed down the OSI, saying that negative attention had damaged the office’s reputation so much “that it could not operate effectively" (AP, 2/26/02).

-snip

Now, in remarks made at a November 18 media briefing, Rumsfeld has suggested that though the exposure of OSI's plans forced the Pentagon to close the office, they certainly haven't given up on its work. According to a transcript on the Department of Defense website, Rumsfeld told reporters:

"And then there was the Office of Strategic Influence. You may recall that. And 'oh my goodness gracious isn't that terrible, Henny Penny the sky is going to fall.' I went down that next day and said fine, if you want to savage this thing fine I'll give you the corpse. There's the name. You can have the name, but I'm gonna keep doing every single thing that needs to be done and I have."

-snip

Rumsfeld's comments seem all the more alarming in light of analysis presented by William Arkin in a recent Los Angeles Times opinion column (11/24/02), in which he argues that Rumsfeld is redesigning the U.S. military to make "information warfare" central to its functions.

-snip

Remember that one? http://www.fair.org/press-releases/osi-followup.html

21. TALON is also the name of a Pentagon database
created in 2003 to collect unsubstantiated reports of "suspicious activities." This doesn't prove any connection, of course, but the coincidental name is interesting.

The system was described in an article in Wired News:

DoD Logging Unverified Tips

By Brian McWilliams

02:00 AM Jun. 25, 2003 PT

To track domestic terrorist threats against the military, the Pentagon is creating a new database that will contain "raw, non-validated" reports of "anomalous activities" within the United States.

According to a Department of Defense memorandum, the system, known as Talon, will provide a mechanism to collect and rapidly share reports "by concerned citizens and military members regarding suspicious incidents."

When I first came to DU and I read people like Tom Paine's post and I thought it was hyperbole. It's not. There is nothing but disinformation going on in this country. It's a fight for our very mind and souls.

Who is going to make this an issue-the msm is complicit? It's like living in a mini-Russian controlled media state.

Thanks for posting this information. I remember not long ago reading that the Bush administration was wanting to do "mental health checks" on kids in schools. Maybe they want to get to them early with the brainwashing and anybody who is outspoken against them and uses their brain's will get put in a "mental" home. :\

17. Barbara J. Stock
I was reading this thread when I came across the name of one of the listed Talon News reporters, Barbara J. Stock. It rang a bell because I'm constantly getting conservative emails from my uncle, so I went back to look up the email. Here is a link to one of her articles:

<http://www.chronwatch.com/content/contentDisplay.asp?aid=8926>

The most interesting part to me is the end:

"About the Writer: Barbara J. Stock is a registered nurse who enjoys writing about politics and current events."

How does this make her a reporter? I'm not even sure Barbara attended the same two-day diploma factory as Jeff Gannon/J.D. Guckert, but I find it really hard to believe some random ex-Muslim who will only identify himself as "Tim" picked HER and no one else to deliver his message of doom.

I'm so impressed with all of the work the bloggers have done uncovering the Gannon/Guckert story. Perhaps we should turn our focus to the rest of the Talon News "reporters."

22. This is proof the CNN, FOX, the NBCs, CBS, and ABC are complicit
in this...you take the phoney journalist and the phoney news and phoney threats and the possible connection to the DOD - it means they would have to have been told to go along with it so that they could remain clean, that it is all part of the orchestrated generation and control of what we're told.

It is (now) so blatant in light of what is unraveling.

They are complicit.

I don't think we should be thinking about this in terms of a scandal that is going to bring Bush down.

But I think this story can be used to shine some light on how the right wing noise machine works.

The gay military-themed prostitution angle can be used to draw people's interest, and then they'll be exposed to the important stuff.

Basically they are a compendium of every disaster that happens anywhere, and the posters on those threads seem to have a way to link EVERY plane crash, chemical spill, liquor store robbery, redneck guy-holding-girlfriend-hostage, natural disaster, etc., to "TERROR".

Maybe the MSM is told not to investigate Talon and all the related ties because it is part of the government's covert war on terrorism, thus everyone could be kept off the story, the same way they classify documents to protect themselves.
