Deep Throat reported to be ill, WP is said to have obit ready in case

Watching KGO(SFO) channel seven news tonight at 11 pm and this is what was said.

He also said that it was rumored to be Bush 41st. He said it might be a reason for the long held secret to be revealed soon.

So, who do you think this is? Do you know of anyone in the Nixon WH who might now be ill? Could be Bush but I don't know.

1. It could have been the deputy counsel to Nixon. A class

of student investigators looked at the evidence and concluded it was him. Someone posted a link to the web site. It was a guy I'd not heard of before. It said he did drink scotch and smoked, which DT did.

Personally, I wouldn't mind if it was the former president. The flames of Hell await that cabal.

2. Chief Justice Rehnquist. There are several threads in DU on this.

Rehnquist was Assistant Attorney General under Nixon. So he was privvy to the sort of inside info leaked to Woodward.

Nixon appointed him to the Supreme Court in '72.

Rehnquist recused himself when the Supreme Court ruled 8-0 that Nixon had to hand over the Watergate tapes.

Rehnquist smokes and was in the military, two traits Woodward has said Deep Throat possessed.

Rehnquist was likely a source for Woodward on another book, The Brethren, an expose on the Supreme Court. After several Justices died, Woodward said he could not reveal if they were his sources because it might inadvertently point to someone still living, by omission. Only two Justices still on the court were around when The Brethren were written. Rehnquist is one.

Now he is dying of thyroid cancer, an aggressive inoperable strain.

9. The more I think about it, the more I doubt it's poppy.

I doubt he would be able to know the inner workings of the WH end of the operation in as much detail as deep throat did. i think it's Haig.
