Bayh 2008?
He doesn't seem so bad after voting against Condi and Gonzales.

1. Honestly
I don't care for him but I will take any dem that can win at this point. I believe he is pro-choice as well. I don't know where he stands on other issues.

8. Moi aussi
I am straight and will stop voting Dem the day they condone gay bashing.

If we can't do any better than Evan Bayh, then maybe we should give up politics and convert the Democratic Party in a nationwide lawn bowling club or something.

6. Are you sure?
I've read a lot about him and that was never mentioned. Is there somewhere you can point me to that describes what he said/did? Thanks ....otherwise I think he'd potentially be a good candidate....

"I do not support same-sex marriage. I think marriage should be between one man and one woman. ... If the Supreme Court ever strikes down the state or national laws prohibiting same-sex marriage, then I believe that a Constitutional amendment should be considered."

From this.

13. I'll be darned.
Well, that's that. Too bad, because I really liked him otherwise. Used to live in Louisville and see him on TV all the time.

4. After Boxer, he's tied with Kerry and Akaka for the best voting record.
of 2005. That may change.

I guess I shouldn't be so critical of Bayh, given how well he's doing this year.

15. Uh, that ranking...
is based on some of his votes in just the last month.

The votes over his career are middling at best.

He has a l-o-n-g way to go before he ranks up with Boxer overall.

Edited on Thu Feb-03-05 07:19 PM by Dickie Flatt
Can we get a real progressive instead of this imposter? Bayh has the right views on some issues but he knows that starting now, job number one is hiding his record.

20. If he hasn't changed he'll slip up and his record will show it.
It's good that the voting records are being watched. The ones who are faking it, won't be able to maintain good records.

14. I think he plans to run...
If his primary goal were to be getting re-elected as Ind. Senator, he would have voted "yes" for both Rice and Gonzalez.
Hoosiers (the right-wing ones) are just furious and made comments in the Star along the lines of "Bayh need to realize he is a Senator for a REPUBLICAN state, and he made a big mistake! Blah blah etc, we won't let him win again."
So I think a run for Presidency may be his goal. I don't think he is that bad. And I think, being that he is a little conservative, that he would do a better job getting the central vote. Anywho, I voted for him as my Senator and I would gladly vote him for President.

18. Don't you think a DINO who voted against Condi and Gonzales has a motive?
Like I dunno, trying to get Progressives to support his 2008 presidential bid. Bayh is nothing but a stuffed shirt whose never had an original idea in his life. He beats his Repuke opponents in Indiana with his father's legacy and by outspending them. He will NOT get my support in the primaries and although I'm almost always very supportive of the nominee regardless, I will have to take a hard look on whether I would support him as the nominee. Of course, chances are that the GOP will nominate somebody SO bad that I would support Bayh but I'm not 100% sure that will be the case.
