Easy way to fight back against Dobson Campaign

Dr. Dobson and Focus on the Family is asking his followers to write to a group of news persons, (including Keith Olberman - my fave), and express their DISAPPROVAL of the way they handled the Sponge Bob case. He has received quite a bit of flack because of his bigoted and hateful message that he is trying to send via cartoons. Well here is a way you can all support the journalists that he wants to vilify. Just click on the link and it will take you to the Focus on the Family site where they have it all set up for you to write to several people at a time.

It's nice that they provide us with a vehicle to show our support for true equality.

If it wasn't for his recent efforts I would not have known that SpongeBob was such a pervert.

You can imagine my horror and outrage when I walked into my son's room earlier and discovered he had a poster of the little gay yellow fellow on his closet - of all places!

Perhaps I should call our local priest today and see if he's able to provide some personalized attention.

I'm hoping there is still time for my son to absorb the teachings of the church and that this whole thing won't turn out to be entirely too much for him to swallow.

It is truly telling in our society when I feel forced to write on such a topic.

Feeling the concern, I turned on my television and there it was- the horrors of all horros, a sponge.

Not just any sponge, mind you, but the greatest evil of all sponges. SpongeBob SquarePants. How could I have missed it all this time, I wondered to myself, while closing the wondows and shutting the blinds, lest my neighbors think I may have tolerance for those different than me.

Please, Maureen Dowd, understand that just like questionably elected presidents who destroy the English language as we know it, sponges also have a dark side.

Mr. Lauer, don't question Focus on the Family. They are trying to save us from all those gay-loving, Jew-tolerant liberal pansies who want equality and peace in our world. They don't beleive in Jesus (at least the way they shuld- fire and brimstone.)

Mr. Michael Ventre, who called fundamentalists fruitcakes by the acronym CRACKPOT, we're giving Jesus a great name. Even a better name than he had made for himself. We might have to do a bit of revisionist hstory to erase the whores and the poor whom he shared company with, but with our PR, and the Second Coming of the Savior in the Oval Office, things will be fine.

James Carville, who said: "How stupid am I? I thought these (tolerance and diversity) were actual virtues." Love and compassion are no virtures. Once we get rid of these anti-Christian liberals and these gays, then we can go back to love and compassion.

And finally, Keith Olbermann. Mr. Olberman and his Count Down show that dare suggest that "the folks at Focus on the Family are right, it could make you, your children or maybe your furniture gay. Or tolerant." I say... who needs tolerance. We have a second term of Bush.

Dear Mr. Olbermann, I seem to recall back in the 80's that there was a
furor over a vast conspiracy to turn kids into Satan-worshippers. Of
course the right-wing kooks played tons of records backwards & found all
kinds of "Satanic verses," but they also branched out into cartoons
(Rainbow Brite, He-Man & My Little Pony, if I recall correctly, were all
branded "Satanic" for one reason or another.) I think the capper of it all
was when some right-wing fundie preacher who had nothing better to do with
his time than listen to songs backwards came out & said in all sincerity
that the theme song to "Mr. Ed" was satanic. Considering "Mr. Ed" is still
in re-runs, I guess we can say that particular campaign was a success.

I suppose the fundies have given up on Satan now & have moved on to gay
people. But why SpongeBob & why now? What about Peppermint Patty & Marcie?
I heard they were lesbians & they've been gracing the funny pages &
kiddie Christmas shows for decades!! And what about Schroeder? What
straight kid in his right mind sits around all day playing Beethoven on a
toy piano?

And for all the ruckus over Scooby Doo being some sort of "gay term," they
sure missed the really big target in that cartoon--Velma.

Ooh, almost forgot that gender-bending, cross-dressing rabbit, Bugs Bunny,
but then I suppose the fundies give him a pass because he fell in with the
gun-toting Elmer Fudd?? Well, I guess portraying a "gay lifestyle" is ok
