Poll question: Has the pro-life movement ever seceded from the Republican Party?
Have they? Despite the fact that abortion is still legal?

1. You mean the anti-death penalty and the anti-war movement? Yes, then. (nt)

2. Conservative pro lifers have sat on their hands in elections
Both Paul Simon and Joe Liberman won their seats in no small part due to conservative activists refusing to vote for Senator Percy in Illinois and Senator Weiker in CT.

3. pro-chocie Senator Arlen Specter was in danger of losing his seat
because lots of pro-lifers voted for Jim Clymer (Constitution Party) or just didn't vote in the Senate election.

A callous chickenhawk pro-death anti-poor bastard can easily call himself "pro-life" and win their votes so who gives a shit? these labels are stupid

4. They don't need to, because the Republican establishment keeps
throwing them goodies and treating them as valued members of the party.

This is in contrast to some of the Democratic establishment who tell the anti-war movement or the economic justice movement to just shut up, vote for whomever the Beltway types deem electable, and by the way, give the national party lots of money to conduct their lame campaigns with.

5. Who cares
The labels are useless drops of flotsam that only idiots vote by.

There are democrats who are pro life, there are reoublicans that are pro-choice. It doesn't matter due to the fact that most politicians have an overabundance of a methane infused brown materials that has been considered a 'curse word' for a long time despite it's natural condition since the beginning of physical - corporeal life.

6. They should but they wont, because the GOP knows how to string
them along offering them little tidbits like parental notification for minors' abortions which ARE popular with a majority of Americans and crap like that. Right now they are playing with parental CONSENT for minors' abortions which are more fraught with legal challenges and therefore this will buy the Republicans four or five more years of Right to Life support while these bills work their way through a gazillion court challengs which will use up millions in taxpayers dollars.

The GOP will never, ever make any real effort to ban abortion, because posters of dead women who have died in back alleys in pools of their own blood from botched illegal abortions are way more effective political tools than posters of fetuses and because a majority of American women of reproductive years want to preserve their own choice to have an abortion and WILL vote based upon that issue if the choice is taken away.

Poor, deluded Right to Life dupes. If they had a clue, they would start a Party based on conservative moral values and split from the conservative economic values Republican Party which is just using them.
