Are Neo-Cons : a movement, a group or hired guns for the "elite agenda"
I was watching C-Span and Bill Krsitol was talking about a Neocon book that is out and I started to think on how all this "shit was assembled".

After reading "Confessions of an Economic Hitmen" and watching corporations "run our world" -- I have become cynical of all politicians and desire to bring down who is really running our world.

It seems to me that Neocons have "come out of the closet" ..in such a way that they now run US policy. Now how in the hell can that be?

My take is the "Neocon label" is self-chosen label of people that are nothing more than "hired guns" who are given a task by the global elite ...it's just now they have a name.

Where else can a group come from "nowhere" and have such influence on what happens to our sons and daughters. I'm disgusted by what I see happening.

They have now give Bush and Rice the label...how interesting.

What's your take and thier rise...their immediate acceptance in Washington...and their rise to power is such key positions - from nowhere?

10. This "movement" has been growing for decades now
Literally. And they've infected many universities and instituted or infiltrated many right-leaning think tanks.

SOME of the neocons were in previous administrations which automatically gives them an aura of respectability (Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, Perle, Cheney, Feith I think, and others).

Here are some links you should know about, if not bookmark and actually read (thanks to Stephanie for her astounding work re PNAC):

3. They did not come from nowhere...People weren't paying attention
This movement has been growing and growing for about twenty years. The freaks have taken over with a vengence because working class to busy trying to eat, sleep, be a little merry and eek out a living. They've been cheated out of education, where they would have learned about the neocon movement. It is now our obligation to educate them or we die along with democracy.

4. There is nothing new about neocons
Technology is why they aren't called robber barons or greedy blind pigs.Thier buisiness ethics are war like and insecure.
If you could rationize ruining someone elses life for your life to be filled with trinkets and toys you could be a neocon. They aren't a club or secret society, they are weak little people who have bad ethics and have learned how to use other people instead of work with them.

13. much of what you say is true enough, jdots, but incomplete
The NeoCons ARE an organized group, identifiable by their ideology. Yes, they're greedy and corrupt (in the extreme), and all the rest. But THIS group is not one you can or should dismiss as just a bunch of greedy, corrupt people who crave power. They have an agenda, an ideology, etc., etc. They are an organized FORCE. Please learn more about them. SAee my links above.

6. The neocons are a bunch of bungling boobs
If they are hired by some monied old fart, then said old fart with money is getting ripped off.

They create crisis in order to unite the sheep: well their 9.11 plot united us for a little bit, but that soon wore off. Bush's boys had to steal another election, that is how much we are NOT behind his failed ideas. And, we were left with lots of dead people, an altered NYC sky line, and debt.

They manufactured evidence for an invasion of Iraq. You can see how swimmingly that fiasco has gone. (Again, we are left with lots of dead people and debt.)

The poppy crop is growing like gang busters i Afghanistan.
What is it that General said about working with little Dougie Feith: Feith is the stupidest man alive?

Neo-cons = insane clown posse.

Three second agendas - propaganda, people containment, keeping us stupid.

8. they are a bowel movement
Wikipedia article:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neoconservatism_ (United_States)

"Neoconservatism is a somewhat controversial term referring to the political goals and ideology of the "new conservatives" in the United States. The "newness" refers either to being new to American conservatism (often coming from liberal or socialist backgrounds) or to being part of a "new wave" of conservative thought and political organization.

Compared to other U.S. conservatives, neoconservatives are characterized by an aggressive stance on foreign policy, a lesser social conservatism, and weaker dedication to a policy of minimal government."

IMO anyone interested should go thru the DU links above. I'm not saying it's worthless, by any means, just not "juicy" in the way the DU research is.

12. Oh yes. They have masters to serve.
and anybody who stands to profit from their actions doesn't have much incentive to stop them. And anybody who does THAT is guilty of being an accomplice.

Our "elites" are in a position to stop them, and have been for some time. They choose not to. Or at least not enough of them.

16. Yep, the neo-cons are simply the enforcement arm of the neo-libs...
if a country can't be IMF'd, they'll be invaded.

Those who think corporate globalization is an issue that can be separated from war (and social safety net preservation, loss of freedom/privacy, the rise of religious fundamentalism, and election fraud) need to do some reading.

The global corporate elite will do whatever it takes to amass ever increasing wealth and control.
