Breaking: Clinton Kisses Howard Dean's Butt. Here's the Phone Transcript
Telephone rings at the Vermont home of Howard Dean at 2 AM EST.

DEAN: Hello?

CLINTON: Uh, Howard, this is Bill...you know, Bill Clinton. Sorry to wake you up, but I need to talk with you.

DEAN: Oh, yeah. Hi Bill. What's up?

CLINTON: Uh, Howard, I just wanted to let you know that Howard Fineman had that whole story wrong...you know, about me working behind your back to sabotage your chances for the DNC Chair.

DEAN: Oh, don't give it a second thought, Bill. As a matter of fact I just got off the phone with Wes Clark and...

CLINTON: Oh, excuse me for butting in, but I was also going to tell you that the story about me trying to get Wes to challenge you for the Chair is also untrue. I know that some have suggested that I was trying to get Clark out of the 2008 race for Hillary and defeat you for Chair at the same time...sort of killing two birds with one stone, but I assure you, Howard, that it never happened.

DEAN: Oh, Bill. I hope that this isn't why you called me. Was it?

CLINTON: Not exactly. I also wanted to let you know that I've asked Harold Ickes to publicly endorse you now for DNC Chair. You know we all have to be united, right?

DEAN: Unity. That's what we need. I agree.

CLINTON: Well, one last thing, Howard. I've asked Harold to make certain that he denies that I've asked him to endorse you now that it is obvious that you are going to win the Chairmanship anyway. I don't want it to look like I'm trying to manipulate anything.

DEAN: I understand, Bill.

CLINTON: Oh, and Howard...one last thing?

DEAN: Yeah, what?

CLINTON: Don't hold this against Hillary, OK? You will be fair to her when she runs against Wes and any others in the 2008 Primaries, right.

DEAN: Good night, Bill.

12. I probably don't speak for all Dean supporters, but I think most
of us will accept the ass-kissing. :)

4. For REAL??????????
Is this really REAL????

Well, I guess it MUST be else you would not have posted it under breaking news, but it seems almost like someone kidding around wrote this.

I cannot believe how Bill and Hillary are acting. I am so disappointed in both of them.

20. Geez, Marcus take a Valium!
it was obviously a parody, though a very well written one. Something the Onion might have published.

7. That's the spirit

I think at this point it's all speculation. I do know Howard Dean has stated several times he admires Bill Clinton AND Senator Clinton. And both the Clintons have expressed their admiration for Howard Dean. So a little comedy is always fun.

8. Very ungracious, tacky and serves no purpose but to divide...
and I can't see how further division helps at this point. I back Dean for DNC chair, but when his supporters trash other Democrats its very off-putting. Dean certainly doesn't try to alienate people, and I can't see how it helps him to have his supporters do it in his name.

Again, what does you post hope to accomplish except to make people angry and divide our opposition to Bush? I like and admire Bill and Hillary Clinton, Wes Clark, Howard Dean, Dennis Kucinich, Barack Obama and most other elected Democrats.

Supporting Howard Dean does not mean must you look down on and belittle all other Democrats, IMO. He's a damn good man, but he's just a man.

19. At least on DU, there is near unanimnity that Dean is the best choice
to head the DNC. Poll after poll puts him at 90% plus here. Sure, some MSM whores diss him and sluts like Fineman try to divide the party, but thats not our fault. If the Clintons are the enemy, why did Ickes endorse Dean?

10. Funny
Politicians are just insane. I like politics but the interactions of politicians just makes me laugh. Yes, I know this is a parody. Clinton and Dean are too experienced to ever allow anyone to post their private conversations.

Dean would always refer to Clinton as "Mr. President." He has to much class to call him "Bill."

The Chairs and Vice Chairs rejected the recommendation of the Executive Committee to back Fowler. They then did a roll-call vote, which Dean won
