Plea to Dems on TV - DON'T let the "liberal media" lie go UNANSWERED
Edited on Fri Jan-28-05 11:46 AM by blm
Hit right back and MOCK the Republican, the pundit or host who spews the lie as delusional.

The media is a CORPORATE entity looking out for its own powerful interests and they overwhelmingly employ the language of the right in framing their stories.

When you let the lie sit there you have FAILED all of us on the left who suffer the constant streams of spin against us.

We have to depend on your representation in the broadcast media. STOP letting us down.

1. They have to go after the HOSTS for anything to change
"I read that in today's GOP Talking points, too, Judy but..."

"C'mon Chris, I know you love George Bush, but..."

The rethugs do this all the time, and 9 times out of 10 the hosts back down for the remainder of the interview. Our surrogates, however are more interested in actually answering questions as if the spin the whores mask as questions are actually questions. They also know there is no cost for straying off message like there is for GOP surrogates.

3. When the challenges to the 2004 election
were really riding strong, all we heard from the Republicans were the likes of "a Hollywood scripted conspiracy theory." Each time I heard it, I thought of the irony as, always on cue, at some point the "liberal media bias" phrase would hit the air.

A scripted conspiracy theory. In fact, it's not even a conspiracy theory to the guys on TV who preach it, just the people they preach it to. It's just plain scripted. These guys know just as well as anyone that they dominate the airwaves, telivision and radio alike.

2. Good post! This message should be snail mailed to all our dems
We should wallpaper the DNC with this. The media bias is rightward and it needs to be voiced by any Dem who gets air time.

5. YES! And might I add whenever a Dem is on TV and is referring to the
horrendous actions of the bush* admininistration do NOT use "WE"! As in "We were wrong to go into Iraq without an exit strategy" - DO NOT ACCEPT PART OF THE BLAME EVEN IF YOU VOTED FOR IT! Afterall the reasons given for going have all been proven FALSE. You can answer the charge that "Well you voted for it didn't you?" The answer is NO YOU DID NOT BECAUSE NONE OF WHAT YOU WERE TOLD HAS BEEN TRUE!

8. I hate that inclusive "we" for Bush's dumbass policies.
The media uses US or American when describing errors or disastrous results when they should put the onus on Bush and his administration.

10. One misplaced "WE" can destroy a perfectly good message otherwise.
Randi Rhodes did it 3 times in a row the other day. If someone tuned in at the wrong moment, they would have thought she was blaming DEMOCRATS SOLELY for bush*s fuckups.

7. Plea to Dem leaders
Edited on Fri Jan-28-05 01:45 PM by PATRICK
not always to have to be pled with to perform as any reasonable person would expect them to as LEADERS.

The mindset of the leadership is seriously out of whack, not merely divided or conditioned by personality strengths. I would lock them away in a boiling room somewhere...well, who knows what to expect there. At least we should look for a new generation of committed leaders who don't get conditioned to behave as they have in the past. ANY good person can get into the trap of being conditioned as a rotten manager or weak leader, especially when all the training supports and demands push them that way. Before Wellstone was killed there were some who questioned his softening and the difficulties he had in resisting pressure for the Iraq war vote.

They should have something posted above their desk to see every day to remind them who does the real dying, the suffering while they get fearful about their career moves. And it could be their lives, not their press coverage that could be at threat someday.
