Here's what ticks me off MOST about the Social Security "crisis."
Of course, we know there's really no crisis; Bush is playing that up for political reasons. But here's what pisses me off the most: Bush, himself, is the reason there's any problem at all! Clinton's plan was to run surplusses and pay off most of the national debt. That would free up tons of money from the trust fund AND from the general treasury to fix SS and keep it solvent for a long time. Bush turned the sea of black ink into a sea of red ink. Now, with the national debt increasing exponentially, we have no money to fix SS. The whole problem is that national debt, and how fast it's increasing now due to Bush's tax cuts for billionaires and his war in Iraq.

1. The zinger that kills me is the role of Bush's tax cuts favoring wealthy
I agree with you totally- your last sentence sums up this maddening situation that will only get worse due entirely to Bush and the RWingers' misguided policies and screwed up ideology.

2. the bush "motivator" is to repeat lies and half truths
in favor of his "initiatives". The lies are told in such a way, and apply such logic, that require a time-will-tell approach to proving him wrong. The history of this is clear. Tax cuts, Iraq, no child left behind, etc.

3. If we can ever bring Bush up on trial for war crimes,
I think part of his sentencing should be that all his estate wealth be given to the US Treasury to at least pay for some of the looting he instigated. If we get the rest of them, they too should have their estates garnished as punishment. Then they might be happy to have some Social Security and Medicare to fall back on if they haven't totally screwed it up by then. I would consider this fitting justice.

4. Its that some later Dem Pres will be "Investigated"for causing the Social
Crisis because she or he invested in some bank that did some Social Security Investments that didnt pay off at the same time that a whole lot of SS private investments were going bad because there was too much investment money floating around out there, and the GOP will apppoint a Special Prosecutor and act like it was that Dem President's fault that Social Security went bankrupt, not *'s, even though it is * who has been accepting gazillions of dollars in corporate bribes from the banking industry in exchange for giving them a hefty slice of the Social Security pie--at the risk of jeopordizing the future of all Americans.
