2. Depending on if you're East Coast or Left Coast...
10:30 EST 7:30 PST on CNN. The only decent news show on TV. Expect her sometime between 7:30 and 8:00

4. 'pubs are disappointed
that she does not want to run for president.

because she is a "fiery brand liberal", the face of the democratic party.

14. no contradiction
'pubs have swayed, atleast a portion of the voting public, that dems are liberal & radical and not suited to lead a nation of "family values".

Being a CA dem she probably has a pretty liberal record (which is fine by us progressives/liberals) that would be ample fodder to demonize the democratic party & frighten the public, if Boxer were running for prez.

Since she said she wasn't they are disappointed they won't be able to nail her like they did John...

8. grassroots vs leadership question by Aaron

Aaron Brown:

"the grassroots of your party (that's us among others :) ) seems to agree with the form & substance of your questioning during the hearing, why aren't the leaders lending their support in form or substance ?"

Nice question Aaron.

In other words, why isn't the leadership seeing eye-2-eye with the membership ?

It was a short interview, around 5 mins I think.

15. she took the high road
she said:

"many members of congress believe a president it entitled to a cabinet of his choice, be it republican or democrat.

unless there are very serious problems, and I am not saying there isn't a serious problem here."

basically that they may not think much of Rice but want the victor to have his spoils. (gosh! that sounded awful !)

:)

12. Didn't all the women in the House walk up those steps?
Patsy Schroeder and others. There werent nearly as many of them as there are now, and there aren't enough of them now, either. it was the next election, if memory serves, that was "The Year of the Woman," where our biggest gains in women in Congress -- including (finally) some Senators -- were made. (There had been one Senator in the 50s, Margaret Chase Smith, but I think she got there by filling her husband's seat when he died, and got re-elected.)

Anyone who has better, more accurate information, feel free to correct me or elaborate. I am notoriously history-challenged. :-(

16. You are notoriously history-challenged? I
think not. You are a great soul here at DU. At least to me. You are an honest person and very bright. And I know you are a fellow soul that shares my ideas and ideals, and to me, that's why we are here.
