Why is Deepa Fernandes leaving Free Speech Radio News? If people don't know, please ask WBAI at wbai.org; FSRN is pacifica's main news program, created in response to the same kind of overreaching corporatization that is in place at BAI now. Someone please find out the story; why she left, etc.; also, research people, see if you can figure out how to contact her.

He confirmed that Deepa's departure is her own doing, and nothing sinister. In his words:

"Deepa's last day was last Friday. She's been anchoring FSRN for about three years, and had lots of other things she wanted to try to do. Being, essentially, anchor and co managing editor of a daily newscast is very, very tiring. Especially when it's located within a fractious, unfriendly place like WBAI. And you're paid very little to do it."

I was afraid she was forced out..but that doesn't change the fact that I am very angry at WBAI for the situation it has created. They should all just leave and go to WPFW.
