Bush campaigned on gay marriage fears and stopping abortion to get votes.
Now he says he won't push for the gay marriage amendment as he told his supporters all last year. His spokespeople are also very careful to say Bush does not want abortion to be illegal.

So......what are the chances that Bush would have had HALF the votes he got based on his REAL plans to privatize social security, invade Iran and his fatwa speech yesterday?

I think not even BBV could have had given it to the dictatortot.

Man, the Republican voters are such easy targets for bullshit artists like Bush, Rove and Rush.

1. I predict his Supreme Court nominees will be people
who want to overturn Roe v. Wade, and so his supporters will get what they want.

3. Bush doesn't want abortion to be illegal. He doesn't want THAT to be
his legacy. He's a political animal and he knows whoever is responsible will be blamed, not feted in the long run.

His spokespeople have also carefully stated that Bush does NOT want to make abortion illegal. His mother, wife and daughters are all pro-choice. His anti-abortion stance was always about political manipulation, not about conviction.

I think there will always be ONE Republican appointee who votes to keep Roe v Wade settled. Just as there will always be pro-choice Republicans kept in the Senate. They have it calculated.

2. GOP voters have ALWAYS been suckers for pro-life promises...
The GOP's been in a position to push the anti-choice agenda for four out of the last six presidential terms.

They've undermined it here and there, but their golden ring, Roe v. Wade, remains in place.

They talk a great deal, but they know it's a landmine.

5. They won't touch either, the issues are more valuable as a wedge

4. Bush lacks respect for his "base"
Bush used those religious voters to get elected--so he could foist his warmongering freakazoid plans on the nation and continue to hand gobs of money to corporations and the wealthy.

Bush has absolutely no respect for those people. They are objects to him. Religion is just a device he uses to garner votes.

Bush probably respects the liberals who know what a frickin liar he is--more than he respects Nancy Churchgoer who prays for him nightly.

"What nimrods," he must be thinking.

6. you dont know how many anti abortion and fundamentalists i told
that bush was just using to get vote and he wasnt going to do anythign. this is a big issue for me now. i think all the gays across the land should gather nad challenge bush's hand now. they are just using this for their means, whenever an election comes up. we need to get it dealt with now, while there are no elections. make bush commit. let the people see what he is made of

9. Conservative Dems should run an ad using Bush's own words
and then ask, "Feel like you were fooled for your vote, yet?"

7. He's steadfast, he's principled
I'm glad he won't be pursuing that but he is NOT principled. Isn't that what his supporters claimed?

11. The greatest thing in 2008 would be
to have a seriously rightwing Christian conservative preacher type in the race as a third party candidate. Let the Republican candidate try to defend against that and split the rightwing vote.

12. you see
we really dont have to change our values, heck even Bush isnt going that far, he is just using it as a wedge issue, and we have to call it in the next debate. Ray Moore needs to run in 2008

14. That's right! These things are only used to stir up the other side
and get "fear" votes for the GOP. Of course, they're not going to push these things through, 'cause then they couldn't use 'em again when they run Jeb in '08. They'll blame the dems for not letting them get these things done, and then haul 'em out again when Jeb steps up and proclaims what a moral guy he is!

15. The radical fundies
got used. Many are enraged about Bush now backing off of the FMA.

Can't say I feel too sorry for them though.
