OKAY..THAT'S IT...I AM OFFICIALLY SICK AND TIRED OF SPINELESS DEMS!!!
Dodd, Feinstien, and ESPECIALLY Biden can kiss my ass as I walk out the door....

They are incapable of representing Democrats, or Democratic ideals....

They roll-over EVERY SINGLE TIME...and I for one have had enough....

Yes, Kinda-Sleazy Rice was going to get nominated anyway, but was it necessary to enable that? Was it necessary to lay down like a dog that's been beaten too much? For crying out loud was it necessary TO PRAISE HER??? How the hell are we rank and file Democrats supposed to say that we stand for anything when our elected representatives continually rubber stamp whatever is sent to them?

I would rather have a Democratic party of 5 Senators and 10 Representatives that stood up and fought tooth and nail for our values and our beliefs, than these useless goddamn pikers that are currently in office.

And for those of you that say that that would be a disaster and republicans would have the run of the place I ask you this...What's the fucking difference between that and what is going on now?

I am convinced that this party is on the verge of total irrelevance and the current "leadership" doesn't give a damn.

Where the fuck did the fighters go? Where the fuck did the people that believed in the Democratic Party and it's ideals go? Where the fuck did the REAL DEMOCRATS GO????

These panty-waist, spineless, gutless, boot-licking servile snivelling rats do not represent me, my party or my beliefs.

It is time to throw them out. Every single one of them that won't stand up for the party needs to be tossed to the curb.

Enough. If we wanted goddamn republicans we would have voted for them.

Start acting like Democrats or get the fuck out. You make me ill.

1. the only way to take back the Democratic party is to vote the spinless
wonders OUT

People have to see, it does NOT help the Democrats long or short term, to just vote for a Democrat, when the effect is that there is little difference between them and the republicans

4. The Dems who voted yes will regret their vote
When Condi gets out there and starts fucking up the entire world.. and yes, she will fuck up. Kerry and Boxer did the right thing and they will both be able to say, "See, I told you so" in the future. Very smart of both of them. I'm just shaking my head for Obama, it's a very disappointing start for him.

40. Already Did It
Also told Obama to vote against Gonzales and chastised him on the Ohio voter fraud action, too.

If he's being cautious, I have to imagine it's because he's being told by the No Spine, No Cartilage Democrats to do so. He stood up for too many correct-but-dangerous things in IL, including abolishing the death penalty (which he did while the government was in Repunk hands). This is a change in character, and it's disturbing.

He needs to stand up if he wants to fulfill his promise.

I joined DU because I was so inspired by all of you. I was impressed by the emailing campaigns and wanted to be a part of that. Once again we are upset. So let gets started emailing our outrage to those democrats who voted for Condi. I feel we should continue to pressure them. If you keep the unity and movement going. I am sure others will join as I did.

7. "Go along to get along" doesn't hack it any more
This Administration is truly incompetent, so incompetent they are a danger to our nation and to our future. Don't Democratic politicians have any standards anymore? Don't they have any principles? (Did they ever?)

I wrote to my two Senators (both Dems) yesterday and chided them for their tepid, ineffective responses to Republican outrages. I'm sure I'll get a tepid, ineffective reply.

9. I guess I would argue
that since she was going to be nominated anyway, there was really no strategic reason for the democrats to not vote for her. They have to choose there battles, and I'd rather have them fight over the judicial nominees. You can call them spineless, but last night John Kerry was spineless for not verbally assaulting Rice. Now, is he a hero again? These emotional mood swings drive me crazy. If you truly believe they are doing us a disservice get out there and work on building a candidate who can beat them. I've seen far too many posts about our spineless leaders. Personally I think that every democrat did a good job grilling her, and I approve of the way they handled the situation.

12. She is going to be confirmed anyway?
That's your reason why they should cave? Okay, I just don't get that. Throw your principles down the toilet because it won't make any difference anyway? THAT in a nutshell, is why dems are in the minority in congress.

There you have it ladies and gentleman.... that ridiculous, stupid idea that voters don't care if pols stick to their principles. How wrong that is. How utterly wrong. And it IS the key to why we lose.

If we learn nothing else from George Bush we should learn this -- voters will vote for people whose agenda they completely disagree with IF they think they are principled.

It's just that simple. And until Dems throw off expediency in exchange for principles we will never again be in power.

16. Excellent post!
Many of us Dems don't even care about winning so much anymore-shit we just want someone to tell the truth and let the chips fall where they may.

I don't want to be a party to lies. Do they?

She is incompetent. She has proven her incompetence again and again. Hell, I heard this woman that wrote a book about her and Bush's women-that she was even WRONG about the Soviet Union-her one speciality of expertise.

She failed us on 9/11. Iraq is failing and was based on propaganda. How much more proof do they need?

21. Its a waste of time to fight about his cabinet
They were going to be nominated anyway. Presidents get their cabinet appointments. This wasn't a fight worth fighting. Pointing out her obvious inadequacies was the best we could do. The Judicial Nominees are far more important than cabinet members. Its better to stave off being called an obstructionist for as long as possible. Do you realize that the right wing is in control of everything. Every move the dems make has to be well thought out, if they want to make any progress. Good lord!

29. She is already nominated - you mean confirmed
And sorry, but your attitude is exactly why dems lose elections. They simply refuse to take a principled stand on ANYTHING, and for that reason people WILL NOT vote for them. Hell, I fully support their agenda and I have a hard time voting for them after they caved on the war, NCLB, tax cuts, and union busting.

How many times does that have to be right in front of our fuking faces before people get a clue? How many elections do we have to lose before people get that simple concept???? People WILL NOT VOTE FOR UNPRINCIPLED politicians. And no one but the unreachable far right voters gives a rat's ass about "obstructionists."

WE are 49% of the voters in this country and we damn well deserve some representation. And they sure as hell aren't going to get the other 2% they need if they cave, cave, cave.

You sound like some of the idiot consultants who run this party.

42. I see the same argument with the Ohio vote irregularities.
As far as I can see all the work in Ohio was for naught if you count the fact that the vote was not over turned!

But at the end of the day millions are now aware that Ohio had some real questions and this, planted in the minds of the citizens, will have an effect.

Blackwell has already dumped BBV for Opti-scan! It will take time and wasting time trying to stop Condi's appointment is pointless. But illustrating her devious past work in BushCo helps plan the seed of doubt.

34. I'm tired of talking about it
Watching the vote today, I came to the conclusion---you know what this is all about? It is a gaddam great big game.

Ok, the Repubs are in, let's play that game and after that, let's play another game--it is one jolly old good old boy, big game, filled with all sorts of compliments and accolades to a lying, incopetant National Security Advisor--you see, that is the part of the big game they all play. It is a vaudeville act.

Then, spend half an hour bloviating in front of the camera about mostly yourself, and various and sundry mistakes the Reopublicans have made and then vote the lying bitch in and hand her the postion of Sec'y of State, thereby causing every single egregious lie and act to be safely "filed" away. We have NO more recourse. It is a done deal, and it is safe now for Bush to do whatever he wants with impunity, and he will. Iran is next. And we will have NO legs to stand on at all.

Today, Obama became a novitiate in the rules of the big game of congressional tiddly winks. He learned well.
