MS. RICE: Senator, we can have this discussion in any way that you would like. But I really hope that you will refrain from impugning my integrity. Thank you very much.

SEN. BOXER: I'm not. I'm just quoting what you said. You contradicted the president and you contradicted yourself.

MS. RICE: Senator, I'm happy to continue the discussion, but I really hope that you will not imply that I take the truth lightly.

SEN. LUGAR: Let me intervene at this point. Now we've had four hours of good hearing, and we thank all members for their constancy. We're going to recess, and I'm going to suggest we come back at 2:30. Is that convenient for you, Dr. Rice?

MS. RICE: Perfect.

SEN. LUGAR: Very well. We recess until 2:30."

I JUST WISH BOXER HAD MORE EMPHATICALLY SAID, "I AM NOT IMPUGNING YOUR INTEGRITY...YOUR OWN WORDS AND CONTRADICTION ARE DOING THAT FOR YOU!!!! AND IF YOU DO NOT TAKE TRUTH LIGHTLY, HOW ABOUT GIVING US SOME TRUTHFUL ANSWERS HERE" ---

GEEZ!!!!!!! NO WONDER CONDOLEEZZAA RICE AND BUSH GET ALONG TOGETHER SO FAMOUSLY WELL...

1. while i love that boxer is taking on rice

i am left feeling disconcerted because all to often there is just one appointed dem ''hit man'' -- and that seems to be the case here.

what i'm looking for is a concerted effort -- one that nails rice by a group of dems -- so that boxer is not isolated.

other than that, i applaud, congratulate and encourage sen. boxer on a brilliant interview that has done wonders to expose an intellectual lightweight.
