RE: 170 Million Dollars down the tubes
for software to connect the FBI internationally (I'm assuming internationally, as that's a hefty price tag) to thwart terrorism, does anyone know who the contractor was that lost this money due to their ineptitude? I've heard a few times tonight that the $$ is lost, the new software system is broke, and cannot be fixed. They have to start over, and that $170Million is history.
Were there no clauses to get the money back should this software enhancement not work? Who was the contractor?

8. You must mean million
I doubt the FBI budget for its entire existance would hit 251 billion.

...of voting machine fame.

on edit:

I'm sure there were no performance clauses or penalties. The Bush administration doesn't seem to use those as a general principle.

4. Thanks for the link.
I used to work in contracting for the gov't, and there was never a contract written w/o a clause. But then again, that was in the good ole days when I like to think honest transactions were happening and the rules were abided by. I think that all went out the window w/Halliburton.

5. I write software for a living...
And I can tell you that *no* way can the program can be totally broken.

When someone requests a software system, in this case our looting federal government, you write specifications, proof of concepts, test cases, reviews - you know proper business practices. Especially for $170 million dollars.

Bull F*cking Sh*t.

I am so tired, ladies and gentlemen, of *our* government stealing and looting our treasury. Believe me - that $170 million went directly into pockets - not yours or mine - I don't who's.

This administration is simply and strictly looting our treasury. Do you know why? Famous saying "because that is where the money is".

Iraq = 200 billion dollars
Social security = cost us 2 trillion dollars - my ass - and favors who?
Others - (help me)

Just what the f*ck do we as citizens get? Nothing my friends.
Nothing. Nothing. Nothing.

If we the people ever want health care, education, jobs, clean energy, clean environment, mass transit, etc, we need to stand up and fight. Fight for our life.

"The prototype's main feature allows users to prepare documents and forward them in a usable form."
