Kentucky (state) Senator Says He Will Leave GOP

"FRANKFORT, Ky. -- A state senator whose party switch 5 1/2 years ago helped the GOP take control of the chamber said Wednesday he will leave the Republican Party over its actions in a disputed election.

Sen. Bob Leeper said he will register as an independent later this week.

His protest came after Senate Republicans voted to seat the GOP candidate who received the most votes in a Jefferson County election in November, even though courts have ruled Dana Seum Stephenson did not meet constitutional residency requirements.

A court hearing is scheduled Friday on whether Stephenson should continue as a senator."

8. This is AWESOME. Coupled with the story about Rush getting bumped
off the radio in Vermont for AAR and I am one happy Dem lady today.

9. What are the numbers in the KY legislature?
Dems vs. Reps? I assume this won't be enough to end GOP control of the state senate?

10. Do not get too excited. He was a Dem first and left the party for
the pugs. In his defense it can be said that this move to Ind. is because of the refusal by the Pugs to seat the democratic candidate when it was discovered that the repug (who had the most votes) did not meet the residency requirements. A judge told the Senate to seat the Dem, but in typical pug fashion they ignored the judge. Just another case of the people making the law, ignoring the law.

11. but that's what I was excited about. No one else seemed to
care that they were ignoring the judge's order. At least he's got a little respect for the law.
