Mel Gibson Likes Fahrenheit 911-Freepers are Screaming! Video
http://www.crooksandliars.com/2005/01/10.html#a1298 Video from PC awards after show interview.

Gibson: I saw the film, I liked it. I feel a kinda strange kinship with Michael.

Via Atrios The freepi get confused by Mel Gibson.

These statements have sent the freepers off the cliff. Please read the comments, there's to much to list.

1. The freepers just assume because they like something
that everyone involved thinks like they do. Here's a thought, Mel Gibson saw a market to make money. You've been had freepers.

Edited on Tue Jan-11-05 11:17 AM by merci_me
wasn't there a point where Mel Gibson's company was possibly going to be the one to release and distribute "F9/11"? I think I read this about a year before the movie actually came out.

On edit: to answer my own question

10. I remember that too .... Freepers don't get It ...as usual
I'm proud of both Mel and Micheal .

While I think my heart would break if
I saw Mel's "passion" I don't doubt that
it was powerful film-making .

4. Why should Gibson give a shit?
He raked them into the theaters, then raked them in time for the Xmas home video season.

He can pretty much tell anyone to go Cheney themselves and not worry about ANY career damaging retributions. As I recall, this movie was also financed by him (?) so he made a shitload of cha-ching on it that normally would have been studio cha-ching.

5. Freepers Fail to Realize
that Mel Gibson - along with his father, Hutton Gibson - are devotees of various NWO/Freemasonry/Illuminati/Bilderberger conspiracy theories. Despite their fundie tendencies, they share a mistrust of BOTH major political parties. Sorry to shit in the fundies' cereal bowl, but that's just the way it is.

7. I could be untypically uncynical
and suggest that maybe Gibson understands that Michael Moore, like JC, cares about issues of class in this country. Moore's concerns are truly for the downtrodden, the disenfranchised, the screwed. Much like Christ's.

Could Gibson actually recognize this? Outlook still fuzzy.

8. Gibson's cool. The freepers are funny.
As another poster pointed out, the freepers think that just because they're into something, that everyone who had anything to do with it thinks exactly like they do. Gibson is his own person; he has his own political beliefs. He's socially conservative, yes, but that doesn't mean he's going to mindlessly fall for anything Bush does; that's what the freepers so and they're just incensed that Gibson doesn't.

18. I don't know.
I think Gibson is a freak of nature for his Passions movie. Talk about your BS propoganda. His liking Moore's movie makes me wonder about Moore. I've got to see 9/11 and the counter film. I know Moore says a lot of things in there that I already agree with, but what about the rest?

11. Has anyone stopped to think, especially the freepers, that just
maybe Mel Gibson is not as conservative as everyone thought he was.
Just because he made a movie about the Crucification does automatically make him a neo-con repuke. There are Christian Liberals who read and believe the bible to be true. And although Gibson claims to be a staunch repuke, that does not mean he is the liberal hating neo-con we all are familiar with from freeperland.

Mel simply took something he felt a passion for and made a movie from it that simply made hoards of money. If he was such a true conservative Christian, he would have donated 100% of the profit to a charitable organization like the shrubs re-election or inaugural bawls.
It simply happens that the largest audience for this flick are the freepers.
This is just another

I also recall a movie of his that told of a time when governments were in gridlock over discussions about oil, and that led to anarchy.
But unfortunately they have chosen to forget that movie.
They colud probably learn a lot just from watching the Road Warrior, instead of driving us to the anarchy that is depicted.

43. Gibson is Opus Dei
He's pretty conservative. Keep in mind that fundie (Christians) in this country hate Catholics (papists) just about as much as they do liberals and Jews. Don't let the Israel thing fool you. They love Israel because that is where Jeebus will return. Those Jews that don't convert will burst into flames or something. They are trying to lure in Catholics with the abortion issue, but hardcore Catholics will not be fooled.

nb: I am Catholic.

Scream conservatives, scream!

I personally hate Mel Gibson after that Passions movie. Talk about your BS propoganda. Conservatives accuse Moore of it, but they take the cake by supporting Gibson. Gibson made a movie based on the unfounded accusation that the Jews killed Jesus. He got some of his information from at least one nun known for her blood libel. Sheesh.

19. Freepers are wound
up over this because it gives validity to Moores movie which is absolutely fantastic for those people out there who don't know what the hell is going on and perhaps didn't see F911 and thus don't really know what * & Co are up too. This is a wonderful turn of events! Just too bad Gibson didn't do this like 6 months ago...maybe it would have changed the election to the point that there was nothing old * & Co could change about it fraudwise because the gap would've been too goddamned big.

I had totally written old Mel off, now I might rent another of his movies someday, though it won't be the Passion.

20. This has got to be the most ironic freeper quote ever...
Yes he suckered a ton of people around here with that and also with his acting like a military man on movies. Some people have a hard time discerning a real uniform from a costume. I think this Diehard character is probably the closest to his own philosophy.

He was on Bill Maher and even though he SAID he was Independent, he supported Bush in the past!

Amazing that he would actually come out and say this. One Ringey-Dingey! Up is down, down is up???? And while I'm talking about weird things, has anyone noticed how much upheaval there has been in the world since El-Smirkle-Roy got back into the WH???

I refuse to say he was re-elected!!!

37. Mel's movie was nothing more than a public beating
I personally hated it. It didn't cover any of Jesus' teachings. It was just a public beating. That's why these conservatives loved it so much, cause it was barbaric and gruesome and they didn't have to listen to any of Jesus' teachings. They just lavished in his beatings and brutal death.

And to the freep who is talking about Michael saying the troops deserve to die. This is utter bs. Why don't you watch the movie and see what he really says. Once again you dumb freeps are spitting out lies and the rest of you are even dumber for believing them.

Oh and Jesus was a gnostic. Look it up freeps. He would be utterly appauled with the way you hate fellow humans.

41. Mel Gibson is nutty
and I am a bit surprised he actually admitted to liking the film, but I guess I shouldn't be too surprised.

I'm also not surprised that he pulled the funding out of F9/11. He probably realized that there would be problems with the fundies goin out to see it if they realized he funded F 9/11.

Now that Passion has made a ton of money, he probably feels the luxury to say he really doesn't give a shit. He's laughing all the way to the bank. Fine with me.

I remember reading a strange interview with him during the Clinton years. He was absolutely nuts. He was going on about black helicopters, and he ripped on not only Clinton, but Bush Sr. as well.

And he made several homophobic statements. He's just plain nuts.

But he's entertaining as a film maker and I don't think he's a bad actor. I wasn't all that impressed with the Passion though. I just didn't think it was that great a movie.

I am happy that he threw this curve ball to the freepers. It keeps them as paranoid as ever. Good for Gibson for not being lock in step.
