Homeland Sec Chertoff/NJ doctor/Osama connection article.
Scroll 1/2 way down to find the part about him being the guy''s attorney....

http://www.opednews.com/duncan_090504_njterrorism2.htm

This story really caught my attention since allegations were made that Dr. Elamir had financial ties to Osama Bin Laden for years and that Bin Laden had funded an HMO that Elamir was operating in New Jersey . The intelligence report that Dateline refers to also infers that Dr. Elamir may have skimmed money from the HMO to fund terrorist activities.
<snip>

I didnt know who Michael Chertoff was when I ran across his name as the attorney who defended Dr. Elamir in his fraudulent HMO and MRI cases, so I did some research. I was completely blown away by what I discovered about Michael Chertoff.

As it turns out, Michael Chertoff was appointed Assistant Attorney General, under John Ashcroft, in early 2001 and was placed in charge of the Criminal Division. Since Operation Diamondback was an active case when he took office, and culminated in arrests in June of 2001, the case would have fallen under his pervue since it was handled as a criminal case and not as a counterterrorism case. This means that one of his former clients, Dr. Magdy Elamir, along with his brother Mohamed El Amir, were now involved in a case under his supervision.

<snip>

Perhaps Chertoff could have saved some time and effort and looked in his own backyard for evidence of terrorist financing. To date, Dr. Magdy Elamir and his brother have not been arrested and are still free. I have a theory that Elamir was not arrested, because if his case did come to court, then Chertoffs role as his lawyer in the HMO case might have been exposed. Since Elamirs HMO was supposedly a front for Bin Laden and millions of dollars were allegedly skimmed from the HMO to fund terrorism, Chertoff himself might be implicated in some way since he had to have had access to the HMOs books and Elamirs finances when he defended him.

4. Bush appoints those who will cover up for him. Loyalty must be to him.
Those loyal to the United States and its citizens are not welcome in Bush's inner circle.

5. L.A. Weekly to hit Chertoff on protecting Torricelli
Looks like people who know NJ politics will be weighing in about him...hopefully this is just the beginning of things being written.
Heh, heh.. Jersey politics. This may get real interesting. Here's hoping people in my homestate start coughing stuff up on this guy.

Veteran journalist Doug Ireland is set to issue a stinging rebuke of Bush Homeland Security nominee in this weeks L.A. Weekly, RAW STORY has learned.

The piece, which details the rise of the federal appeals court judge and post-9/11 Ashcroft favorite Michael Chertoff, sheds new light on the nominee who is little known outside New Jersey and inside the Beltway.

The nominee, Ireland says, was a partisan juggernaut as U.S. Attorney in New Jersey. But he says Chertoff spared former Democratic Senator Robert Torricelliwho was forced out of his job over a spate of campaign finance violationsas they were buddy-buddy on the Jersey political scene. Ireland has long covered the machinations on the east coast political scene for the weekly.

Chertoff was a political attack dog in that job, indicting and convicting a raft of Democratic officeholders, Ireland pens. But one who Chertoff deliberately let get away was his big buddy, Bob The Torch Torricelli, forced to resign his U.S. Senate seat from Sopranoland in a major corruption scandal.

2. There is a bright side....whenever Bush and the cabal select
fellow operatives for reward and loyalty...we end up learning and filling holes. Here we go with another confirmation hearing and the pre-hearings - the ones in the bars, restaurants, and on the internet.

They are exposing themselves 'real good'.
