9. The 'secret' government , for want of a better term,
has indeed placed some of their people in key MSM positions over the past decades, imo.

Or is it easier to believe that our so-called 'liberal' media is, just by chance, full of highly paid, well educated, middle to far right Republican fools? :tinfoilhat:  :scared: :scared:  :tinfoilhat:

10. I've noticed a tit for tat exchange of bad news for Dems and Republicans.
Anytime a Republican has bad press, there's an attack on a Dem.

When Feeney and Delay were justifiably attacked, the press went after Pelosi and the guy from California.

When they went after Giuliani for his Kerik association, they went after Hillary Clinton's campaign advisor.

When it was Armstrong, they went for Rather.

Pathetically transparent.

8. I don't give a f*** about name recognition - it's the SCANDAL
the WHITE HOUSE has just been caught using TAX PAYER MONEY to pay a COLUMNIST to PROMOTE PROPAGANDA. THIS scandal trumps that piece of shit overdone "Rathergate" MANY, MANY TIMES OVER.

11. The white house has been caught in many lies...
Edited on Tue Jan-11-05 05:58 AM by Q
...including that 'little' one about lying this nation into war. Armstrong is one of troops in trenches...fighting commies, terrorists and the liberal media. He's on Bush's 'payoff' list to keep the people off balance and not knowing truth from fiction.

Strange that they had to go BACK several weeks to pull up the Rather story when the White House Payola scandal is just a few days old.

Oh well...if it doesn't bother the Democratic leadership there must be nothing to it.

15. Yes it may
But, when CNN, Fox, the Tribune Companies, the NY Post, Washington Times, talk radio, MSNBC and others tell us that Rathergate is more important, it tends to stick a lot better than Armstrong Williams on Air America & DU.

30. Right ON! This CBS Memo thing is absurd...
especially since its a private media company who made a decision about a muddy story. THIS PALES in comparison to the Whitehouse bribing the media to spew its propaganda, AND THEY'VE DONE IT MANY TIMES!! That's the disgusting part, the Bush gang will continue to spew their agenda with illegal, unethical means to get their way.

44. NO WE DIDN'T! WOOD-STEIN WERE THE EXCEPTIONS!
*I* remember when the Watergate thing first broke out, before the Democratic primary 1972.

I remember listening to my Zenith transistor radio hearing ONE radio reporter (forgot his name, but Matt Drudge kinda reminds me of him!) say THIS was going to be what will break the Nixon administration.

THEN..... NOTHING from the MSM. Months and months and months and months passed by.

REMEMBER, if it wasn't for "Deep throat", however, not even Dustin Hoffman and Robert Redford would have had a story....

IT WAS WATERGATE, that turned reporters into heros that the modern day of investigative reporting BEGAN (and now is all but over).

So, maybe we'll get lucky??????

14. Idea
I'm new here, and have an idea that may have already been suggested. Contact the mainstream media and tell them we don't get our news from them anymore, we get it where the truth is being told. I've contacted a few so far, but if all the people who are seeking the truth contacts them, WOW! It is true, I don't watch, listen or read any of "THEIR" news anymore.

Also - it's worth contacting your reps, whichever party, and letting them know you're onto them. There's a handful of Democrats in Congress who are calling for an investigation of the paid punditry. They (two from California - George Miller and Henry Waxman) should be encouraged, and their colleagues should be pushed to it, too.

If they think we don't care... they won't, either.

BTW - don't forget that TOLL FREE number to the Capitol Hill Switchboard - 1 (800) 839 - 5276. It'll get you transfered, just for the asking, to ANYBODY'S office on the Hill - House AND/OR Senate.

19. It's simple really
If they focus on Rather then they don't have to focus on the fact that they are all shills. Williams says there are others, you have to wonder who they are. If the MSM questions this one, they may have to reveal their complicity in the matter. "Rathergate" is about one individual (though there are others involved) and they can focus on that without having to turn the heat up on themselves.

21. They are currying favor with their RW masters and afraid to oppose Bush
Infuriating how people like Chris Matthews played both sides before the election, not knowing who would win the elections but now seem gleefully in the pro-Bush camp now. Last night on Hardball he said that the CBS documents were obvious forgeries and he left viewers with conclusion that CBS was pursuing an anti-Bush political agenda, even though the CBS investigation did not actually reach those conclusions, and of course no mention of the fact that the underlying questions about Bush's service have still gone unanswered.

This just freaking blows me away.

The president gives almost a quarter million dollars of TAXPAYER MONEY to a JOURNALIST to forward a WHITE HOUSE PLAN as PROPAGANDA disguised as UNBIASED COMMENTARY and no one says a damn thing about the person who offered the payment to begin with.

28. To further the focus on Armstrong Williams:
go to www.rawstory.com and read their article about his hypocracy in chastising the NAACP for sexual harassment allegations, while settling his own sexual harassment lawsuit. Seems he likes to make advances on male personal trainer types. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but, oh, the hypocracy of Armstrong Williams and others of his ilk!

33. Strangely Enough....
this just SHOWS just HOW BIASED the Media have become!! Payoffs must be stupendous!!!

This of course is also how they went about their campaign to win the last election. One that they really didn't win, but have been able to suppress by keeping a lid on the Election Fraud!! While we sit around calling Kerry everything from a traitor to a wimp, they sit and YUK it up! What to do is the REAL question!

How ANYONE in their right mind could see this differently is beyond my comprehension. They did their JOB on Rather... took about 30 years or so, but they FINALLY got him! NOW, I suppose the plan is to advance onward to the next prize. Advancing as one would in WAR!

This administration know NO BOUNDS or will stop at NOTHING to achieve it's goals!

A question on C-Span this AM was "Who do you trust more, the Govt., the Congress OR the Media??? Almost to a man the answer was The Media, however it was chosen mostly tongue in cheek because NONE of them actually got FULL trust from most of the answers. The question is MUCH TOO HARD to answer!!!

that believes that Karl Rove set up Dan Rather? We have evidence that he did similar things in the past and it's a great way to discredit a story that is really true. After all, the gist of the story was confirmed by Bush's commanding officer's secretary.

There is no liberal media. There are liberal reporters. They tend to have conservative editors. The conservative editors have corporate bosses.

The reporters have zero decision over what gets in the paper.

about the answer. In short, they don't dare because while Brock doesn't come out and say it, he forecasted a scenario like this.

Well everyone screams that Dan Rather is biased towards liberals, look at Fox News!! They show footage of Kerry giving a speech and come back to anchor Brian Kilmead who immediately comments "sounded really fake to me". Rather has never said such a blatantly biased statement about ANYONE, Republican or Democrat, while Kilmead and his likeminded colleagues on the Fox News Channel routinely mock every Democrat who ever crosses their path. And then Bush and friends have the gall to complain about the "liberal media"??

and the Bushies bring up Rather as a counter argument. I've told them that's like mixing apples and oranges.

Williams was paid $240,000 of tax payer monies to pimp the right wing agenda during an election. Williams is being shunned by his peers and this administration hopefully will be investigated for improper use of taxpayer monies.
