Poll question: What senator(s) are going to have a backbone on January 6, 2005?
The Black Caucus is going to ask for one Senator to have a backbone and challenge the vote. Who will it be?

3. What do Byrd and Boxer have to lose?
Edited on Wed Jan-05-05 11:50 PM by zulchzulu
Byrd is on his way out and could send a signal and a big middle finger to the little cowboy and Boxer will get re-elected in California anyway....plus both would be legendary heroes for democracy down the road...

If both do, each should get one of Kerry's vacation homes for sticking their necks out.

8. Chaffee is GOP
That should be REALLY interesting if he does. That will keep it from being declared as a "purely partisan attempt".

14. Cantwell would be very unlikely
Edited on Thu Jan-06-05 05:37 AM by fujiyama
She seems very much like a go get along kind of senator...and makes very little noise.

The others are more likely, but I'm really skeptical of Chafee saying anything.

13. Seriously
Byrd's retiring, so he doesn't need to worry about reelection, and Boxer was just reelected, so she's got six years before she has to worry about anything. She'll probably catch some hell for it now, but I'm sure she'll live it down by her next reelection campaign, and if people do finally realize the shear amount of bullshit that went on with the vote, it'll make her a hero.

11. Isn't Cantwell vulnerable
She could have a target on her back come '06. She should play it safe and let Murray do it.

12. It doesn't hurt to ask.
I wrote to both of them. So now they know what I think they should do.

And since I still have an address in Illinois, Durbin too.

7. You can say "We pissed it all away."
Edited on Thu Jan-06-05 01:10 AM by Kurovski
Not to break the drama, but that's what you could say.

Edit: I think you have an excellent email to your Senator in there, if you have not sent it off already.
