win them over with TABORs (taxpayer bill of rights) laws which then cement a certain year's budget priorities percentages into stone and then allow for growth in the budget but only to the extent of population growth (so that a per capita figure can be obtained) and inflation (which the feds provide). If a series of good economic years arise, the prospects for a rebate of excess to the taxpayers is an incentive that encourages passage of such measures. States like CO, ID, TN, WI, KS, FL, TN
So far, in Colorado - where TABOR has been in effect for 12 years- the DEMOCRATS are now on the rise ! Obviously, something must be backfiring on the Republicans there.
Could some politically astute DUers see what's happening ? Furthermore, in Idaho I've found a website for TABOR that is pretty funny...they've got a "BARF ALERT" for when liberals are about to propose idiotic spending measures. The link is at
http://www.idtaxreform.com/barfAlert.htmWe at DU have skewered crazy conservative spending ... maybe we should email them the one about the missing $1 trillion at DoD ?

I always get a laugh when I hear about Bush "saving" taxpayers dollars! BTW, how about auditing DoD sometime ?
