New slogan for Dems: Got Rights?
We need to be the party that is FOR something.

We need to not worry about how anyone else is trying to box us into defending so-called unfavorable people or groups.

Underlying that - what are the fundamentals?

The fundamentals are that we are the party of RIGHTS.

Of the protection of the individual against government and giant corporations.

We are the defenders of the Bill of Rights.

Let's not get into a tit-for-tat defense of every tweaking of the nose. We need to answer with a larger idea - a more general response - WE ARE IN FAVOR OF PROTECTING INDIVIDUAL RIGHTS, AS GRANTED BY OUR FOUNDING FATHERS.

13. I prefer the blue lettering, since the Dems are for protecting
citizens' rights and the repugs are for stripping them away from everyone but corporations and the wealthy.

Rights--a tenet of the blue.

6. This should include the 2nd Amendment
This should include the 2nd Amendment. It doesn't make sense that the party of personal freedom and social tolerance would also be the party that wants to limit individuals' right to the means with which to defend themselves. The one thing I really liked about Howard Dean was his opposition to gun control.

7. A beautiful idea, NormaR.
I wish I thought most Americans gave one shit about rights, their own or anyone else's. I honestly believe the idea of rights has become meaningless to most of the population. Rights suggests that you have a life you would like to do something with other than consume, conform, watch TV and shut up.
