4. NOT Russians,
Ukrainians. When I was a teenager I dated a Ukrainian/Canadian girl. Her parents (who met in a German Slave-labour camp in Holland) told the most horrendous tales of life under Stalin, the forced famines, the executions. The Ukraine is definitely not Russia. There is a long antipathy.

The Russians "encouraged" Russian emmigration to the Ukraine. This has muddied the waters there ever since.
