The Olbermann rocks thread
Reply to this post if you think Olbermann rocks. Let's show MSNBC that we support Olbermann.

In your post:
Give ideas on how we can support him.

Do you think Olbermann is a liberal or is he pandering to us for ratings?

Any chance we could convince MSNBC to let him be the ONE liberal voice on cable TV?

3. Until those voices arrive...
1). Guy James radio show, live from the Web on Saturdays

2). Bernie Ward radio show, live on the Web weeknights

Direct links to both on DU.

I'm trying to embrace Air America. Too erratic and up-and-down for me. James and Ward are on-topic and hard-hitting ALL THE TIME.

14. Keith mentioned on his show a few months back that he
did NOT vote for B/C in 2000. He also mentioned once, in a long-ago interview during his ESPN days that he was raised in a "politically liberal" household. You do the math. I don't think he's pandering. I think he's actually a very solid journalist at heart who wants to get to the bottom of the stories he's covering-you know-like journalists used to do in the good old days before they all became corporate whores.

Re: Support for KO--lots of e-mails. I think MSNBC has been impressed by the e-mails they've gotten on this. I see a lot more promos for Countdown on air now. It used to be all Hardball promos, all the time. I saw that we put links to his show's website on our own liberal websites. Tell friends. Write snail mail. Copy your e-mails to the show to the official MSNBC addys too: [email protected]; [email protected]. Let them know how you feel. Hell, write Rick Kaplan (head of MSNBC) a snail mail letter.

16. I went cold turkey.
As I watched his show, I had been writing a note to MSNBC to tell them that I wouldn't be watching the station any more. And I'd been obsessive about cable news, even that awful Scarborough, Matthews, Aaron Brown, Imus in the morning and Jon Stewart late. I've given it all up, too, exceptin' Keith O.

19. Well, damn, I can't find it.... but another DU'er posted it,
it's probably in the archives by now and of course we can't search the archives at the moment... anyway he told her to get the word out, he's getting too much noise & not enough signal in his email box... basically, send your pats on the back to the generic email addresses at MSNBC, not to him, his email's getting slammed.......

26. I love you, Keith Olbermann!
Edited on Wed Nov-24-04 10:34 AM by checks-n-balances
Not just because you're attractive, witty, intelligent, talented, AND gutsy...

But also because you are TRULY PATRIOTIC!

Unlike most of your media contemporaries, you are fully aware that our democracy can only survive by having an educated and informed electorate.

You care about telling the truth, and the truth is the ONLY thing that will set this country free again.

It's not just who you are, but what you do, that is making a difference!

THANKS, Keith! :yourock:

(Edited, as usual, to correct my grammar)

31. I believe that he believes
I'm new to all of this - prior to this year, I never even knew I was a liberal, but I've become real educated real fast. Olberman, as the one MSM person (to my knowledge anyway) to do what he is doing, is in my opinion, heroic and patriotic. There are easier ways to earn ratings, and by heroic, I mean risking his career, and possibly even his life (hey, I put NOTHING past those people), to get the truth out, based on FACT, has got to be due to his own beliefs and not ratings. I would even venture to say that he had probably ran into some resistance from his higher-ups until they saw the support he was getting from the people who KNEW something smelled bad in this election. I would imagine too, from what I've seen of bush-backer writings, that any correspondence they sent was idiotic, hateful, ignorant - well, you all have seen some of their writings, I'm sure. He seems fearless and I'm hopeful that others will follow his lead as the evidence continues to grow.

And he's not just judging what is newsworthy by what his peers are reporting on.
