Scary thought: Will McCain be the one to "sell" the draft to the people?
I am listening to AAR, hearing McCain take a very hawkish view on Iran and he has been saying that we don't have enough troops in Iraq... I wonder if he will be chosen as the point man by the Admin. to "sell" the draft to the American people?

1. I hope so,
Then many McCain lovers here will see him for the sh$thead he really is. I have always had contempt for this man.

8. There are a lot of McCain Lovers here?
I respected him as a war hero and as an alternative to typical Republican status quo. If there are any real McCain lovers left after his hugging of the Chimp, they should be flogged. McCain is loosely hinged and kind of kooky. If he pushes the draft he's dead meat regardless his past heroics.

12. Nuts, isn't it?
Just goes to show you what a nice smile and twinkly eyes can do these days. He's a dick, and he's a fool for sucking up to the power elite in his party. His politics are basic troglodytism, and he's not to be trusted to the door, regardless of some whiffs of morality on the subjects of campaign finance and legislative maneuvering.

Yep, he's suckered many here, and you'll even find residual oblivious love for Powell. Part of this is due to the nature of contrarians, part of it is idiotic inability to get past physical looks and a whole lot of it is the dunderheaded inability of most people to ever admit they were wrong about someone; a widely held conceit of people is that they're good judges of character, and it's increasingly accepted in this society that admitting mistakes is a hallmark of being a loser.

2. Saw him on the Today show this morning
and that's what I was thinking, too. Here we go, and they're going to have McCain spoon-feed a gullible populace.

4. That piece of chimp hugging crap...
will not be able to make the draft more palatable than the chimp himself. I am sad that this is going to happen, but I do hope that the fools that helped to elect that monkey, get to watch their child serve "freedom" in Iraq.

14. Well put.
Most people look out for numero uno, and would turn on Regan himself if he was trying to draft yuppie kids.

6. God I hope so. It would be a desperately needed wake up call to America
They'll never dare do it though. They must realize what sort of reaction that would incite in the American people. It would be the beginning of the end.

7. No. . . .there will be no draft.
We would never go to war again if there was a draft. To think it is the people that will take us to war that will push for a draft is wrong. Scaremongering about the draft was good politics before the election to try and scare young people to the polls, but it will never happen.

10. Don't worry we aren't in a war now
and won't go to a WAR in the future. These are all just security measures...er...and it isn't a draft...it's just a oath compliance check...

or something like that. Nothing to see, move along.

15. The Congress wouldn't dare vote for it, anticipating public reaction.
I'm sure they know what would happen in Washington immediately after that. Congressmen and Senators wouldn't even be able to safely leave the building.

He was on Meet the Press yesterday and when asked if we were going to war with Iran, he said, "I certainly hope not, but blah blah blah..."

Sounds like the prelude to the invasion of Iran. It'll happen. Just watch.

believe me, if the draft comes up, it will be JR's "read my lips". it's not going to fly.
