What issues are important to "progressives"?
Edited on Mon Nov-15-04 04:48 PM by Lanky Craig
I see a bunch of talk on this site about progressives. I'm not sure I even know what that means in the big picture. I am here because I was looking for an anti war message board and found this one. I am antiwar and in the view of the people I know am a "liberal". What other issues are important to those claiming to be progressive? I assume that means you favor abortion, pro environment and other stuff; however, I really don't know. I would like to get an idea of where you guys stand on issues, especially those that would separate yourself from people like Clinton. I had assumed was he considered by all (vast majority) Democrats to be one of the best presidents ever, but there seems to be some animosity towards him here. I didnt expect that at all.

2. And no one is 'for abortion.'
Those of us who fought the battle in the early 70's believe that we don't want to go back to using coat-hangers as a means of birth control.

We prefer that a woman terminate a pregnancy safely and legally rather than kill herself or abandon a baby in a trashcan later on.

That is why we call ourselves 'pro-reproductive-rights.'
