PHOTOS ACTUALLY REACH PEOPLE THRU THE LIE MATRIX. USE THEM.
Fight fascism with PHOTOS of the HORROR in the OIL WAR.

“If we let people see that kind of thing, there would never again be any war.”
-Pentagon official explaining why the U.S. military censored graphic footage from the Gulf War

That's how you make Americans "visualize" the oil war in it's REAL form, not the false word matrix.

The blood is already spilled and merely showing it in photos has the same cogent effect as the actual violence.

THIS IS WHY THEY HATE US, NOT FOR 'OUR FREEDOMS'

(I saw this as a huge poster on a Chicago street with the caption "this is not the enemy")

There are many sources for reality-based photos to use. Like this-
http://www.robert-fisk.com/iraqwarvictims_page1.htm

Our brains are hard-wired to feel stress when we see others in stress.
Use this tool to illustrate the bloody truth and get our Fallow Merkins to react. Remember the Kim Phuc in Vietnam photo? It is iconic and the reason the Pentagon doesn't let us see what they do to people anymore because we wouldn't stand for it.

Now that the Pentagon has issued a manual on fighting insurgencies for the first time since Vietnam, we very much need a manual on how to combat fascism before the steel doors shut tight even if Kerry is allowed to take his victory.

We must get smarter about countering the propaganda and reaching the hearts and minds of our Fallow Merkins. 'Persuasion technology' is how Nazi bastards steered the US population into the mess we're in. Learn what works and why or keep riding in the handbasket!

George Lakoff's work on 'framing' issues in language that reach the primal parts of the brain:
1)self-protection
2)protection of whatever is defined as family.
3)the value of hard work to achieve #1 and #2 called 'discipline'

http://www.berkeley.edu/news/media/releases/2003/10/27_lakoff.shtml

Understand psychology, history, language themes, and media messengers who will help save us from the Mayberry Machiavellis and the Fuelocracy.

The military calls this 'force magnification.' That is, getting help from a few important individuals who can get the cooperation of the larger population.

Very cogent photos and pamphlets need to be everywhere all the time, malls, churches, highway overpasses, all the places where we can still move freely to reach our Fallow Merkins.

5. read the rules
Do not post graphic images of violence. If you have a legitimate political purpose for posting graphic images, please provide a clear warning in the subject line of your post.

6. I think the title was clear enough
maybe you need to learn to read better?

If people don't like to see this sort of thing, too bad. Get use to it.

15. you know benito
I thought mention the lunch was trivialising the issue. If it had been a gross jokey picture, then the lunch comment would have been apropos. I agree it is a graphic pic. But it is a very serious picture. If you'd told the OP that they needed to flag the post without the mention of your lunch, I would not have commented.

I have seen you post around here, and pretty much always agree with you. After I made the first lunch comment, I found your democracynow.org reference, which I totally agree with. I just did not comment there, because I did not want you to think I was stalking you. :)

You have a nice day too.

12. Point taken. Didn't know that was in the posting rules. Change the rules.
Re-read that Pentagon official's quote on why blood is kept out of sight. It makes people react.

Kinda self-defeating on the part of DU, isn't it?

9. not a slam on you personally but...
Its statements like that that show whats wrong with the American people as a whole and how we can re-elect someone who lead us into this mess. We never see the horrors of war or like our grandparents have not had to endure any of the sacrifices. We continue our daily lives watching news that has been sanitized for our protection, buying our playstations, new homes and cars without a care that somewhere in the World under our flag innocent children hare being killed, maimed and their homes bombed out of existence. These are not my Moral Values. I am a true Liberal in the followings of Christ who said "Suffer not the little children". If these images bother you than I say good!

It means you have a soul.

8. Obviously, that was intentional because the truth is being suppressed.

On edit:
Heck, I didn't mean to traumatize the folks here who are already aware of the problems we face.

I'll warn in the future. But all my points still stand.

The fact that there are rules around photos like this (I didn't realize that) makes my point and I hope others will use them to reach our Fallow Merkins.

3. "PHOTOS ACTUALLY REACH PEOPLE THRU THE LIE MATRIX"
that's why our media does not use them. They are complicit in making this 'war' seem OK, sanitary, in league with the devil that is the continuing cheney bush junta.

This is why they call al-Jazeera 'biased' and 'negative.' Because they run the photos.

13. Well, let's be fair
They run the photos AND they have a point of view /perspective that isn't pro-USA. IOW, there IS a bias, just as even an objective and free U.S. press would have (used to have) an inherent bias because it would be built from the perspective of the Americans running it. (What we have now, OTOH, isn't mere perspective "bias" but pro-state propaganda 24/7.)

I don't find Al Jazeera's inherent bias objectionable, though, as long as one considers it as part of the mix. I think it's important that people get their news from a variety of sources and had I more time for news surfing, Al Jazeera would definitely be among my choices. In fact, I wish it were available on cable and satellite -- THAT, to me, would be freedom of the press.

16. Why should they have a Pro USA Bias
they are much less biased than that US propped up pos Arabic 'news service' which is pretty much Fox in Arabic.

To hear morans in the media who criticise al-Jazeera, you'd think they opened their news broadcasts with "Good evening, and DEATH to Infidels and the Great Satan, which is America". Which they don't. They report the news as they see it, as people who have to live in the shit and under the threat of shit most people in the country never thought of. They report as people whose counties were stolen and divided up and occupied a hundred years ago.

But yes, a variety is good, just because someone's inherent bias WILL colour the telling of a story.

21. Good idea. Could also be used in response to anti choice fetus pics
Edited on Sun Nov-14-04 03:44 PM by MissMarple
used in fundy demonstrations. My son's high school was the focus of an anti choice promotion of government controlling your family life demonstration a week or so ago. I was thinking maybe the kids could return the gesture with a display of way over sized war dead pictures such as the ones seen on this thread.

on edit: A location in close proximity of a fundy church on a Sunday morning would be appropriate.
