A Very Good Quote By Julius Caesar: Does anyone see this?
"Beware the leader who bangs the drums of war in order to whip the citizenry into a patriotic fervor, for patriotism is indeed a double-edged sword. It both emboldens the blood, just as it narrows the mind. And when the drums of war have reached a fever pitch and the blood boils with hate and the mind has closed, the leader will have no need in seizing the rights of the citizenry. Rather, the citizenry, infused with fear and blinded by patriotism, will offer up all of their rights unto the leader and gladly so. How do I know? For this is what I have done. And I am Caesar." -- Julius Caesar

5. Eddie Izzard got it right ...
"But in America, you win the gold medal, I’ve seen you at the Olympics. You stand there, hand on the hearts… You and the Roman Empire are the only people who’ve ever done that, so be very careful! ‘Cause you’re the new Roman Empire, you realize that? There’s no one else going! ‘Cause the only other big power is China, I supposed, but they’re going, “Ah… oh…” kind of thing. 1,000 million, but they’re all just getting ready.

But you’re the Roman Empire, yeah! So you’ve got vomitoriums and orgies to look forward to… Let the President lead the way!"

8. True, the idea is still pertinent but the historical force that would
be behind it had Caesar said it is gone.

11. This is neither Caesar nor Shakespeare
This has been around for several years and several prominent personalities, including Barbra Streisand, have attributed it to Shakespeare. However, given the meter, it is clearly not Shakespeare and, as Snopes notes, there is no record of Caesar ever saying it.

It's a nice thought, but if we use it, let's make clear we're agreeing with the meaning and not the supposed source, so as not to look silly.

16. TR I agree, I am taking the quote and putting it in context with what
is going on in our lives now. Regardless of who said it, I feel the words are very much on the mark and for whoever came up with this, they saw something that we are seeing now.

The quote fits regardless of who said it.

12. Yes what I have said ----DICTATOR 101--- Obvious from get go.
 How can we give up on international understanding so easily??
Where is the terrorist alert now that the election is over??? You think GIHAD is over because King returned to throne for 4myrs??

We are beings used big time. The Mainstream media can't see it because they love to eat up anything the King and Jesters throw out there.
Slow news means White house comfy.

I wish we could see some investigations into where the reinforcement of army trucks are. I know the steel workers would give up days off to produce. What is the hold up???

13. Be nice to Julius Caesar! He fought AGAINST the conservatives.
His power came from having the support of the Roman masses, whose side he took against the grasping and oppressive millionaires of the Senate. That's why the Senators murdered him; not because he was a dictator -- a conservative dictator by the name of Sulla had already been permitted to terrorize Rome -- but because the people who benefited from Caesar's dictatorship were not the rich and powerful.

15. I didn't say he was nice... he just wasn't a conservative
and therefore should not be slandered as such.
