70. I live in LA! That IS Westwood - in front of the Federal Building

Those ARE army tanks - there's an Army Rotc building just a few blocks down the street on Wilshire. Last year I was at an anti-war rally and some soldiers pointed machine guns right at me - and I was doing nothing to provoke them. I just ignored them - but I thought, man this could make Kent State look like nothing!

1. The more eyewitnesses, the better
Indymedia is open for all posters and the last thing I want is for us to be duped by some right-wing baiters with a good graphics program and nothing but time on their hands.

2. Remember this link? Bush has his mandate and this is ok
http://kurtnimmo.com/blog/index.php?p=405

Now that Bush has his “mandate” from the American people, those who oppose his policies can expect increased surveillance, harrassment, and maybe even arrest and detention. Recall Bush’s attitude toward those who disagreed with him when he was the governor of Texas—he told peaceful environmental protesters demonstrating outside the governor’s mansion in 1999, that “the rules have changed” and ordered them arrested. “The governor seems to think he can, by fiat, simply hack away ‘the right of the people to peaceably assemble and to petition the government for a redress of grievances,’ to quote a portion of the First Amendment,” commented Charles Levendosky of the Casper Star-Tribune. Indeed. As we now know, Bush believes the Bill of Rights itself should be changed.

3. I think what galls me the most
Assuming the presence of tanks did occur at this small rally (which I am tending to believe), but the complicit lack of coverage or attention by the media.

As much as I love DU and getting my news here, I realize that we are a very small club when contrasted with the population as a whole...but if it wasn't for this site, I would never have learned of the tank story. There are millions of people who have no clue. None whatsoever. I have Indymedia bookmarked but I rarely visit the site.

7. An "eye witness of tanks in L.A."? What's that supposed to mean?
...and why would it make any difference to anyone even if they were?
