Poll question: What direction should the Democratic party take?
I'm wondering what direction we here at DU want the party to take, and if it would affect our votes in future elections.

2. How about listening to the voice of reason - Howard Dean?
And returning to being the Democratic Party and not the DLC neocon Bush lite pussies.

5. Let's forget about left vs. right for a moment
How about moving toward less extreme, and toward embracing self-determination, equality, civil rights, and environmental responsibility?

Any movement sufficiently far toward the left takes you to a place indistinguishable from a move to the far right: Institutional control over individuals' lives.

The country is supposed to be about liberty.

6. Honestly, it's less about moving to the left or right,
it's about defining the issues, holding to our core values (which I've always felt were pretty darn moderate), and fighting for them. Simply put, we need to stop trying to out-Republican the Republicans, and start being Democrats again.

7. Move Left!
I really getting sick and tired of trying to defend candidates who are in the middle on every issue. It makes it look like they don't stand for anything, or that they are switching positions and are arguing both sides at once.

8. dont think of things in terms of right an left
Move away for corporations... fire a lot of people.. show the country the Democratic Party wont just be the the not as corrupt party. You dont need to move left or right to do this. Talk to the people, tell the truth, be a refreshing voice.

10. How about we...
Look at the issues where the majority of America agrees with us (almost all of them) and stay where we are.

Look at the issues where the majority of America doesn't agree with us, find out why, and then try to come up with strategies to change their minds?

You know. Might be worth a shot. Seems preferrable to letting right wing assholes butt in and give us marching orders that will head us straight off a fucking cliff.
