2008: Hillary vs. Giuliani in the general, who wins?
I think Hillary would clean his clock. Yes, republicans hate Hillary. But, if Rudy somehow wins the republican nomination, I think a lot of republicans stay home and Hillary wins.

To them, Giuliani is a "gay lover" and "baby killer" whose morality is suspect, three divorces, married his cousin, affairs in the governor's mansion.

2. I don't know who "wins", but we would ALL lose with either of them
Hillary is radioactive and Giuliani is a one trick pony (9-11)..

We need to MOVE PAST 9-11.. It was horrible, but as long as we are dragging it into every election, the fear works against us..

If we had fair access to media, that event could be dealt with in an adult way, and people would see, that if the people who are immediately involved in 9-11 (New Yorkers, New Jersey people) can go on with life and put that horrible day to "rest", the nervous nellies in Nebraska and Tennessee can too..

Giuliani would NEVER let go of it.. It revived him from being an adulterous husband to "hero" status..He wears it like the lousy combover he used to sport.

8. Taking voting fraud into account, who else but Rhudy. Damn!

'Till this voter fraud is cleared up, this all is totally moot.A lot of democratic voters wont even vote if they aren't sure it will count.

9. Are any real Dems talking Hillary?
I mean, I really like the woman, but she has too much baggage. I think running her for Pres is really a GOP, not to be crude, wet dream. They still use "Help us get rid of the Clintons" in Republican/Conservative fund raising mailings. It's an obsession.

...but I think Giuliani would win because A) he's a mean, ruthless bastard; B) there are enough insecure goofballs out there who think that Hillary is personally coming to their house to cut their testicles off and force the family to become socialists (Such people are insane, but such is the mind-set); C) Republicans get the reputation for being law-and-order, national-security types, even if they don't deserve it; D) women lose points just for having the XX chromosome pair, no matter how articulate, humane and sane they are (George Bush over Condi Rice? Come on!); and E) the Republicans worship at the shrines of Lee Atwater, Richard Nixon, and Joseph McCarthy and will do anything to get elected, no matter how low, mean, mendacious, and evil. Did anyone catch the McLaughlin Group oohing about the "genius" of Karl Rove? :puke:

By the way, I personally would vote for Hillary and work my rear end off for her. But the race is not to the visionary or the humane; it's all for the elite, incurious, well-paid demagogue.

11. Hillary would win, the fundies would stay home
I'm not one to badmouth Hillary, she would make a truly excellent president. But to be honest she would probably lose against someone relatively moderate in the GOP (stressing the word "relatively"). If the GOP nominated someone like Guiliani, I think it would be a major mistake on their part and he would be the sacrificial lamb to whoever the Dems nominated.

17. I disagree with the premise
If Giuliani were the GOP nominee, it is likely that there would be a strong third party candidate running on a pro-life platform.

19. Like Buchanan In 00
The Pugs coalesce around their candidates very well...

That being said Hillary is the only Dem Guiliani can beat...

If we run a Mark Warner or Evan Bayh type we kick Rudy's ass because Rudy is as alien to the heartland as foie gras...

Too bad the Pugs will never nominate him...

But we might do something stupid like nominate Hillary...

18. Giuliani
Even if the Christian deserts him. Actually, that would help - he would position himself as the hard-nosed realist/centrist between the extremes of Hillary and the Christian Right.

But who knows? 4 years is a long time in politics. Let's see how the next 4 years work out.

21. if we don't ensure that paper ballots are required in every election
whoever manufactures the electronic machines

or counts the scanned votes

or has access to the computer where the votes are tabulated

--and not our votes--

will choose who wins.

23. What method are we using to cast our votes?
If the answer is machines with no paper trail, or machines vulnerable to hacking, I'm going with ghouliani.

24. This is fucking nuts
Hillary WOULD NEVER WIN A PRESIDENTIAL RACE. The only morons who say so are falafel-mongers like O'Lielly, Limpballs, and the rest of the punditry.

Of course, if they want to delude themselves that way, I'm perfectly happy to let them do it.
