Payback time.

Yeah, I'm serious.

There are 50 million of us who are *pissed as hell* about this.

Fifty Million.

We have credit cards, and bank accounts, and grocery lists.
We go to the movies, the restaraunt. We go out dancing.
We go on vacations, we buy airline tickets, we buy gas for our cars.
We are the consumers in this country.
We are the economy of America.

You fuck with our freedom, we fuck with you.

Did a business donate to Bush? Then fuck them. They're blacklisted. Permanently. Let them die. Let them rot.

Did a customer donate to that piece of shit? Same deal. Let them rot.

We do your labor, we buy your goods, we keep you afloat, and THIS is how you repay us? Fuck that. It's over. The deal is off. You fucked us one too many times.

Let them rot.

There is no further compromise. They have declared war on all of us, on all of our futures, on all of our children.

They are the enemy. I will do no further business with them. Ever. They think they can fuck us and still expect our support? Hell no. Enough is enough. It's payback time. In spades.

http://www.opensecrets.org/parties/contrib.asp?Cmte=DPC

Many of these contributed to both sides in good faith.

However you should be able to find your local churchs, pubs, coffee shops, book stores, and shops that had Kerry signs or democratic signs and support them - let them know your proud to be there supporting fellow democrats.

17. If they're everywhere, then finding just one is easy.

Can't cut ties to all of them?

Ok, then cut ties to ONE.

Put a few Republican-owned businesses on a list and throw a fucking dart if we have to. Then tell me what business your dart hit. They'll never see my face again.

And I don't care if it's "unfair", or if "others are worse". Fuck them all. They don't deserve fairness. They deserve payback. It's long overdue.

6. People keep talking about the ...
"Alternative culture" that the RW set up. Well, we can do better than that. We won't just have some left wing version of the "Left Behind books". What if we could start a whole left wing economy? Yeah, it would be hard and not perfect, but what if we could at least get enough of our money going that way, keeping it in the community so to speak, that they would notice?

Indeed. I've touted this in several threads today, and I'm glad to see I'm not the only one thinking along these lines. I'd like to call on the mods to set up a Freecyle/Bartering forum. 24. No shit!

For chrissake, "alternative culture" is what we progressives DO BEST. We've been doing it for as long as I can remember, and we're GREAT at it. We write the music, we make the films, we write the books, we write the poems, and the best they can produce is cheap knock-offs and bland caricatures.

There is so much they are dependent on us for: business, labor, art, community, you name it. It's time they started realizing that the people they are fucking with are more than capable of cutting them out, and that we have LONG memories.

It's now or never, people. Now or never.

I was raised by religious parents, who happen to be avid Democrats, and they instilled in me and my sister values. Real Values. Traet people with respect and dignity, regardless of race, color, creed, or social status. Don't steal. Don't commit adultery. And above everything, Don't take another person's life. Ever. In other words, the Ten Commandents. Look people, the fundies who supportes bush may believe in God, they have just twisted the Bible around to a strange way of thinking. Not the religion me or Fla Dem or a lot of others are familiar with. I was baptized in the Presbyterian Church by the way.

31. We have the resources here at DU to do it, easily

We have the numbers, we have the board, we have state forums. Hell, Skinner even has the ability to make a list "sticky" so it stays at the top, if he wants to.

All it takes is for each of us to take a few minutes to see who donated to Bush and who didn't, and then make an fyi post for the rest of us. Big company, small company, corner store, local restaraunt, whatever. Every dollar these bastards lose is one dollar of payback for what they've done to my country.

16. One simple thing you can do right now:
Change your long-distance phone company. Working Assets Long Distance donates part of its profits to progressive causes every year. You can (but don't have to, of course) round up your bill to the nearest dollar every month. I pay $6/month for the basic service - which, truth be told, I barely use, but I have it "just in case." They also send activism alerts, recommended reading lists, and let you vote on which organizations to support each year. (My big ones are always the environment and women's rights.) You can have the monthly bills withdrawn from your bank account automatically, if you're like me and tend to miss little things like deadlines. And, you'll get coupons for free Ben & Jerry's ice cream. :) Refer your friends and get discounts while doing a good thing for the world. If anyone wants to sign up under my ID, just send me a private message with your e-mail address ... it would help me out ... but if not, just go to the Working Assets home page and check it out. It's the small steps that will make the difference.

really dumb when the conservatives were trying to boycott The Dixie Chicks, Springsteen and CBS... How is this any different?

The important thing is to straighten up, and don't let them make Democrats look like caricatures anymore, that's what turned off mainstream Democrats. Rove made people think of Democrats as America hating traitors to those who didn't know any better, that's what needs to be addressed here, and that's what lost the election.

This will just make us look silly, whiny, and ultimately ineffectual.

39. Wondering what neocons think
of us won't get anyone anywhere. We don't need their acceptance, they certainly don't feel that they need ours. I think that we're beyond taking solace in the fact that we're the "nice guys", there's much more at stake now.

Money talks, a silent protest with our wallets will speak volumes. If only to say that we will not give up our voice and our rights and that we won't take this lying down. Watching Sinclair's stock tank, and seeing their advertisers distance themselves out of fear showed what organized pressure on individual businesses can do. We've shown that we can do it already. We can do it again, and again and again if need be!

The weapons that we dems have in common, and that the neocons appear to lack, are creative, analytical, adaptable thinking minds. We should use our assets to our collective advantage.

Who's with me?

And it ain't over now. 'Cause when the goin' gets tough...
the tough get goin'! Who's with me? Let's go!

What the fuck happened to the Democratic party I used to know? Where's the spirit? Where's the guts, huh? "Ooh, we're afraid to go with you, we might get in trouble." Well just kiss my ass from now on! Not me! I'm not gonna take this. Bush, he's going down! Cheney, going down! Rumsfeld...
Going down! We gotta take these bastards. Now we could do it with conventional weapons that could take years and cost millions of lives. No, I think we have to go all out. I think that this situation absolutely requires a really futile and stupid gesture be done on somebody's part.
And we're just the guys to do it.
LET'S DO IT!

VIVA LA RESISTANCE!!!!!!!!!!

55. I agree! They live off our money!
It's time to starve these parasites out of our society.

57. Our money. Our labor. Our invention.

And the presumption of our continued cooperation.

"Krissey88: hey...he won...it's over...stop being so bitter about it"

61. Does she own a business?

If not, then I really don't give a shit.

This kind of petty bickering doesn't accomplish one damn thing except waste people's time and energy.

I want to hit them in a way they'll FEEL and REMEMBER, and their pocketbooks are where it starts. I want to make it hurt. Bad. Make their businesses suffer. Refuse to serve them as customers. Treat them like the miserable garbage that they are.

62. Let's ask the Mods
to help us put together a list of places to spend your money and places NOT to spend your money. Costco, for example, supports the Dems. Wal-Mart supports the Pugs. It could be on the front page so we could search it when trying to decide where to buy coffee, a new car, or plan a trip.

64. I agree.

And I'm thinking that sticky threads in the state forums would be helpful for ID'ing local businesses that funded Bush, too.
